"Hector and his crew are excellent! They work with my schedule and they work fast while doing an excellent quality job. They turned my garage into a palace compared to how it was when I started. They reinforced the garage structure and put up drywall on the walls and created a new ceiling with new storage area above. Then the taped, textured and painted. My garage is now the nicest room in the house. Thanks Hector! - Paul V. - San Jose, CA."

"I went with this company to do a Drywall installation and painting on my Tuff shed. I could not be more delighted working with this company and their employees. Polite, hard-working, prompt, efficient and professional-- just a pleasure to work with a top-rate company after having so many poor experiences with other groups. Cannot recommend them highly enough."

"Bill was great to work with. He's very friendly, willing to explain things and worked hard to come up with a solution for OUR needs. We had a hard move-in deadline that was only one week away, and Bill's crew miraculously pulled it off.
I spoke with Bill several times by phone to establish the appointment and discuss options. He was always very friendly and it's obvious that he has a passion for his work - very knowledgeable and interested in the details. We established price and timing, and he handled all matters related to purchasing the paint and materials. The crew always arrived on time and never appeared to slack off. Every single day they put in longer hours than was included in the invoice. They were very polite and nice guys, and got the work done so fast it made our heads spin.
In terms of the work that was done, they pressure washed the exterior and painted both body and trim. On the interior (master bedroom), they put up new drywall and patched some damaged existing drywall, then textured and painted the entire room. They also put in new trim, painted the window trim, moved a few outlets back into the wall and many other details that weren't even in the bid. That's just how Bob works. He wants to do a good job and make customers happy. They came back a few days later for routine touch-ups on the exterior, and spent hours making sure that every last detail was right!
I would definitely recommend Fine Point Painting to anyone, and will use them in the future if the need arises.

Drywall questions, answered by experts

On average, drywall installation costs around $2,000, with a typical range of $400 to $6,000, including materials and labor. The final price depends on several factors. The most significant is the size of the area, as many contractors charge per square foot. Other cost factors include the complexity of the job (e.g., cutting around multiple windows and doors, corners, or curved walls), accessibility, location, the thickness of the drywall, the height of the room, and the desired level of finish. The level of finish can range from simply hanging the drywall to taping and mudding the seams and painting the walls.

Venetian plaster is a highly durable wall finish that becomes a rock-like substance once dried, making it last longer than most other wall finishes. Its lifespan can range from decades to centuries, potentially lasting a lifetime. Key factors influencing its longevity include the quality of the initial application, whether it's properly sealed against moisture, and how the wall is maintained and treated (e.g., how often it is touched or bumped). Due to its mineral content, it can also develop a patina over time.

There are some instances when you can use extra drywall in your garden. Ideally, unused scraps of new drywall are best for amending soil without the concern of additional chemicals or mold. However, drywall with paint, mold, or potential asbestos requires specialized disposal by a professional and should be kept out of your garden.

Plaster can be a difficult DIY to master, especially if you plan to plaster an entire room, rather than patch a small area. Before you begin a plaster DIY project, you need to know which tools and type of plaster to use. It's also important to know how to prepare the surface and apply the plaster for a smooth finish. If that all sounds like a lot of work, you may prefer hiring a local plaster repair contractor to do the job.

Whether a drywall anchor can be reused depends on its material, type, and the method of removal. Plastic anchors, including expansion and self-drilling types, are generally designed for single use as they tend to break or deform upon removal. Metal anchors, such as toggle bolts, are more durable and may be reusable if they are not damaged during extraction. However, with toggle bolts, the toggle piece can fall into the wall cavity when the bolt is removed, making it difficult to retrieve. If an anchor is damaged during removal, for instance by having its head cut off, it cannot be reused regardless of the material.
