"The recent winds in Fontana ripped my chimney cover and it was just hanging up there and making noise with the slightest wind. I called on Wednesday and Richard from Madison air called me right away. He came out on Thursday and replaced my chimney cover that day. They were early and it took about an hour. I have a 3 story house. Richard and his employee were very nice and explained everything to me. He even check the fireplace for me giving me some tips regarding the placement of the logs and other things. Cost wise I have nothing to compare it with but was okay with the amount, especially since they came right away. Didn’t want birds to build a nest or any other animal to get in there. Yes, I would recommend Madison Air. If you need anything done regarding your chimney, call them. Thank you Madison Air!!!"

Chimney Inspection questions, answered by experts

The three main types of home inspections you should always carry out for new construction include a pre-drywall inspection, a post-drywall inspection, and a one-year inspection. The pre-drywall inspection can identify building code violations, issues with plumbing, electrical, and HVAC components, and structural issues. The post-drywall inspection can identify damaged building materials, insufficient insulation, and more. An inspection at the one-year mark after construction will identify problems your builder must fix under their comprehensive one-year warranty.

The most obvious and severe sign of a roof leak is the presence of wet spots on your ceilings, specifically on the top floor of your home. You can also identify a roof leak from your attic if you see sagging insulation or if you notice mold growth or water stains on the rafters or the underside of the roof deck. From the street, look for cracked or missing shingles, moss growth, and shingles that are curling upward, all of which can suggest a leak.

The most common defect in a flat roof is leaking. Flat roofs have minimal slope, so water pools more readily on a flat roof than on a sloped roof, and the risk of the waterproof membrane failing increases with exposure. Tears and punctures from foot traffic and blown debris are other common problems, especially with single-ply roofing membranes like TPO and EPDM roofs.

A roof can collapse from a leak if the leak is left unattended long enough. A collapse will happen when the structural components of your roof become saturated with water over time. The roof deck or rafters can slowly weaken until they can no longer support the weight of your roof.

Individual soft spots can often be repaired if they’re caught early enough and the damage isn’t extensive. If soft spots cover a large portion of the roof or the roof sheathing is in poor condition, you’ll probably need to replace your roof to preserve its structural integrity.
