"This was a small landscaping job for placing ribbon/ synthetic grass between concrete that was already poured. The team was fast, friendly professional, and gave a great price. They did an amazing job! I highly recommend for any of your landscaping needs."

"Green Republic did an amazing job. They worked with us to give us what we wanted and within our budget. The work was fast. Seriously, their staff are fantastic. And extremely friendly. They completed the entire job in days. The best part about this is I’m pretty positive I now have the best front yard on my block. The neighbors continue to compliment the job and ask who did the work. Will totally be using them again when we start on the backyard."

"Excellent craftsmanship. Paramount Pavers more than exceeded my expectations. They were accommodating, professional, courteous, respectful and timely. I highly recommend Paramount Pavers for all aspects of landscaping and concrete work. They demolished a 55’ retaining wall, constructed a new wall and a new driveway. The work is impeccable. Great Company. Thank you Isaac, Rudy and Edwin for caring for my project, like it was your own."

"Our experience with Costa Turf was perfect from beginning to end – including Aubrey (our first contact in the office) and Mark (the on-site contractor). They supplied us with many examples of turf, detailing the pluses and minuses of each (thickness, price, pet-friendly, and more). They also gave us addresses of past customers so that we could see our ideas executed. Mark (our contractor) listened carefully and patiently to what we were looking for in our front yard project, and then also offered up several ideas of his own, based on his past experiences. We liked his ideas better than our ideas, so we approved Mark’s suggestions. His crew was very friendly and patient and knowledgeable as we had many questions, even on the day of installation. (The whole process took 1 day to complete.) And Mark came back several times after the job was completed to make sure that we were happy. We have recommended Costa Turf to several of our friends already."

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

If you use the wrong plants for your gardening zone, you’ll likely get less than desirable yields from them. In some cases, your plants can even die. It’s important to ensure that your plants are able to survive in your hardiness zone before getting them into the ground.

There are two main times of year to apply mulch: mid to late spring and late fall. Spreading mulch in mid to late spring helps protect new seedlings as the soil warms up. It's best to wait until temperatures are steady, as mulching too early in the spring can slow down the soil's warming process and hinder plant growth. Fall mulching is also beneficial, as it insulates the soil and helps regulate its temperature when the first frosts arrive.

The best type of rock for landscaping depends on your specific project and needs, as different rocks are suited for different applications. For covering large areas or creating an affordable driveway, consider gravel, but note that it can wash away in flowing water. For water features, river rocks are a good option. Flagstone and cobblestone are ideal for aesthetically pleasing patios and walkways. If you are building a stone wall, fieldstone or small boulders are up to the task. Large boulders and landscape rocks work well as statement pieces, to fill empty space, or to indicate boundaries, but be mindful that they can overwhelm smaller gardens. The best approach is to first define your landscaping project and then select the rock type that best fits that purpose.

Yes, you can landscape in the rain, but you should take some precautions to keep yourself and your tools safe. Avoid using electric landscaping tools during rainfall, and don’t mow, thatch, aerate, or rake in the rain, as your tools can more easily tear out roots in the loose soil. Be careful when working on wet grass, and take your time to avoid slipping. Avoid putting in new plants before a particularly bad storm, as heavy rain and strong winds can damage or uproot plants that aren’t yet established.

Late August, September, and mid-October are the ideal months for planting a young tree. However, the best time to plant a tree ultimately depends on when the weather transitions to fall-like conditions and eventually winter frost. As long as the hottest days of summer have passed and the ground hasn’t frozen yet, you can still successfully plant trees.
