"Handyman was on time and ready to resolve /correct my problem. He is very nice but there was a disagreement on cost of job. Miscommunication on cost of job. He got somewhat annoyed with what I understood work would cost. If it wasn't for that I would rate him higher but would hire him again providing we agree on cost."

"Dylan from All in One Handyman did a great job and paid great attention to detail. The entire interior of my house was painted, holes were patched, new doors were hung, a sink and faucet was replaced a large tv was hung, a bathroom mirror as well and I was able to add little extras along the way. I’m very happy with how my home turned out and would use this company again."

"I would highly recommend Ricky for your handyman tasks. He is professional, friendly and easy to work with. He takes pride in his work and provides quality work for a reasonable price. We had him replace our front and patio door locks. Due to the way the previous door handles were installed we encountered some issues getting the new knobs to fit, but Ricky found a solution to complete the job and everything turned out great. I am very pleased with the outcome of our job and would strongly recommend him!"

"fantastic job.the crew from the major retail store that I had purchased the dishwasher from couldn't get the dishwasher to fit under the counter.they told me I would need a handyman to saw off part of the counter.i contacted TME from Angie's list.He diagnosed the problem over the phone. He said the crew that came out didn't know how to retract the wheels. He came out and retracted the wheels.I then paid TME extra to do the whole installation."

Handyman Services questions, answered by experts

The cost to hire a handyman can vary, with most charging on a per-hour or per-project basis. On average, expect to pay between $50 and $150 per hour, with a typical rate around $90 per hour. For project-based work, the average cost is about $400, though the total can range from as low as $180 to $1,500 or more. Some handypeople may also require a minimum flat rate, such as payment for two hours of work.

Several factors influence the final cost, including:

  • The type, size, difficulty, and complexity of the job

  • The amount of time the work takes

  • The handyman's experience level

  • Your geographic location

  • The cost of materials and any necessary permits

  • Accessibility of the work area and potential travel costs

Additionally, you may encounter higher rates or extra fees for emergency services or work scheduled during holidays.

A contractor specializes in a specific field. They often operate in teams where they have subcontractors to handle specialized problems. So if you have significant plumbing, drywall, or roofing issues, you’ll want to hire a contractor, as the job may require a team.

A handyperson is typically one person who works on whatever jobs come their way. You wouldn’t call a contractor to fix the hinges on cabinets or paint your room. Instead, a handyperson can handle all these issues, saving you from making multiple phone calls.

Using a pro guarantees correct tools and expertise, preventing potential household mishaps.

You can tackle hanging Christmas lights yourself with the right tools, accessories, and a trusted friend or neighbor. You’ll need to purchase a ladder ($100 to $300), clips ($10 to $20), hooks ($10 to $15), and lights ($25 to $100 per string).

Otherwise, you should hire a trusted holiday light installer near you. You’ll pay an average price of $200 to $650, but you’ll have peace of mind knowing that the job is done correctly and safely.

There are a few advantages to hiring a handyperson as a contractor, namely that they will likely charge less for their services since they don’t have as much overhead. A handyperson might also have more flexibility and be more involved in your specific home project, so you can communicate with one person instead of a subcontractor team.
