"I would not use this company again. I must point out that the owner, Alan; the manager, Dan and the lead tech, Lemoine deserve ratings of "A." The workmanship, the quality of materials, and the delays I experienced were inordinate and unreasonable and those issues deserve a rating of "D-" The project demo and construction began on 3-16-20. It was finally completed on 5-28-20 with a followup issue addressed on 6-19-20. WORKMANSHIP: The first tech installed the sink P trap incorrectly, resulting in a leak. A 2nd tech fixed the leak but the P trap was still installed at an incorrect angle. The first tech decided (without consult with me) to cut the backsplash from 6" to 4". The first tech left white stains on the floor from the old toilet. One of the techs dropped one of the heavy shower panels on the shower pan, resulting in damage. The epoxy repair material had to be ordered, resulting in another weeks delay. On June 19, the lead tech had to come and replace the caulking at the bottom of the shower panels because they were loose and leaking behind the panels. QUALITY OF MATERIALS: The Kohler LUXSTONE is described as easy maintenance and cleaning. NOT TRUE. Shower panels must be cleaned with squeegee and wash cloth. One of shower panels has streaks that cannot be removed and that panel is of a different texture and finish than the other 2 panels. The CARDINAL glass surface protector (costing an additional $300) is supposed to repel water and oil It takes between 15-20 minutes to clean these glass doors. They must be cleaned with a squeegee and dry towel after EACH use. If any water drops dry on the glass, it must be rewet and then toweled off after EACH use. The vanity top (a Corian type composite) has scratches that appeared after 3 weeks of use. Isopropyl alcohol leaves a noticeable stain, which cannot be removed by any of the approved cleaners. However; the lead tech advised me to use a Mr. Clean magic eraser to clean the spots. The spots became less visible but the magic eraser left a white film over the vanity top. One of the shower doors opens at random and when the other door is cleaned. Initially, the gap created was about 12 inches wide. The tech worked on the door and the gap is now about 1 inch wide (which I live with). There was a gap under the shower door closest to the shower head, causing a large amount of water to splash onto the floor. This was addressed with a stop gap method of installing a small strip of vinyl under the shower door. One of the light globes (out of 4) was cracked and broken before construction even began. DELAYS: From the first day (3-16-20) there was a delay because the work began without the shower pan. Had to be ordered, resulting in weeks delay. The handles on the vanity drawers were the wrong type ordered. Knobs with predrilled ONE HOLE openings were installed. The drawer facades had to be reordered with correct handles (TWO HOLE predrilled). Another weeks delay. The drawer facades that the factory sent did not match the color of the vanity. Those facades had to be returned and another set of 8 drawer facades had to be ordered. Another delay of weeks. The owner, the manager, and the lead tech tried to do the best they could to address the issues but the quality, the workmanship, and the delays were just unreasonable. My rating of A on professionalism applies only to the 3 gentlemen above. I would rate the first tech with a D- on professionalism. The rating I gave on Punctuality has to do with the inordinate delays in completing the project. The workers themselves were punctual."

"We recently built a new house south of Carson City and used Carson Valley Glass for all our interior glass – both the materials and the installation. Our project included multiple bathroom mirrors (both rectangular and oval shapes), shower enclosures (frameless glass in both ½ inch and 3/8 inch thickness), and glass fronted kitchen cabinets. We’ve also used Carson Valley Glass for small projects – last year we broke one window at a small cottage. Carson Valley Glass supplied us with glass in exactly the right size to repair the window ourselves – and for a much better price than others quoted. We highly recommend Carson Valley Glass for projects both large and small."

Brite Glass is Reno-based full services glass company founded by two glaziers with more than 100 years of combined glazing experience between them. It is a reputed name in Reno and surrounding areas, known for its award winning animated television commercials and also its coveted glass cleaner. It offers a full spectrum of glass services that satisfy the sales, service and installation needs of customers throughout the Northern Nevada and California areas. Also, it’s Reno Window Showroom at 100 Gentry Way offers customers a wonderful collection of glass products. Also serving and Surrounding Areas of Northern Nevada

"I was pleased with Brite Glass for car windows, so went there for windows and a shower surround 2 months before listing our home for sale. Owner Rob Hardy helped me, said to email window photos and sizes, which I did. He sent my email to Robert Wilson our “manager who quotes and schedules.” It took 1½ weeks to get a call and 2 more weeks to get the measurements for quotes. Then it was 1 quote for windows and shower surround, not split as requested. We had to pay half up front. After 2 more weeks, at install 2 windows were broken (1 not planned to be replaced), so we had 1 badly fogged and 1 broken window, broken glass on our patio, and no shower surround as it was the wrong size. It took Robert 1 week to place a reorder, and 3 more weeks to reschedule an install, at which 1 window and shower surround were the wrong size. After another reorder and 2 more weeks, shower surround and window were installed, but with a sizeable gap in the window frame and torn screen. I got a call to pay the balance, but the job was not done and I wanted to speak to a manager. Hardy called, had our file, was aware of the problems, was “sorry” and just wanted to know when was I going to pay. It was 3 months after we met, our home had been on the market over a month with defects, and the job was not done. Hardy threatened that if I did not pay, he would put a lien on our home which would make it harder to sell. Repairs to the window and screen were not finished until late October and the installer was directed by Hardy to get a check for the balance even though he knew I was paying by credit card. I got 2 calls late that Friday afternoon before Nevada Day weekend that Hardy said I had to pay that day or a lien would be put on our home. So, it was 3½ weeks to get a quote, and 10 more weeks to do the job, with measurement errors, installer damage, repeated delays in reorders which were not expedited, repeated failure to let me know the status, no priority in scheduling after all the delays and, to top it off, Hardy’s appalling attitude of threatening a lien, not offering any accommodation."

Glass and Mirrors questions, answered by experts

You can use a commercial water repellent treatment for glass on your shower doors to prevent water spots. Take care to only apply the product to glass. Letting air circulate also helps prevent water spots, as water is less likely to remain on the glass for a long time with good air circulation. Run your vent fan, open a window, and leave the shower door open for about half an hour after using the shower.

Yes, smart glass can be blacked out. Blackout smart glass allows homeowners to turn windows from transparent to blacked out instantaneously.

For small, non-pressure-related cracks, you can fix them using two-part epoxy. This spares you the cost and hassle of replacing the glass. Simply clean the surface and remove any debris or dirt, wait for the glass to dry, then spread an even layer of mixed epoxy solution over the crack. You can use a putty knife or rubber spatula to push the epoxy into the crack.

The size of your mirror depends on the size of your vanity and personal preference. Most people prefer a mirror that is 1 to 2 inches narrower than the width of their vanity, while others like a mirror that’s the same width as their vanity. Remember that the mirror should sit 5 to 10 inches above your faucet when choosing dimensions.

Glass has one of the longest lifespans of any fencing materials, lasting anywhere from 10 to 30 years on average. Just how long your glass fence lasts depends on several factors, including how well you maintain your fence, the climate, and the type of glass you use.

If you live somewhere with severe weather like hail, tornadoes, or hurricanes, expect your glass to have a shorter lifespan. Pool glass is one of the thickest tempered glass materials and may last longer than other options—especially compared to laminated glass.
