NRG Clean Power

I had a very positive experience with NRG during the sales process: the people I spoke to were knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and quick to follow up with answers to my questions. That changed as soon as we signed the contract and paid our deposit. Communication became sporadic at best, with each step of the process taking much longer--in some cases many months longer--than what I was told during the sales process. To be fair, there were external factors that contributed to the delays. Our project involves installing new roofing, and apparently several roofing contractors are still backed up after the winter storms in early 2023. But that doesn't explain or excuse the near-total lack of communication or the apparent lack of interest in moving our project forward. It has consistently been a struggle to get even the most basic details from NRG, and I've had to follow up every few weeks just to see if anyone is still working on our project. I can't speak to the quality of their work because no work has been done, or even scheduled, more than seven months after signing. I strongly recommend against working with NRG.

Don't hire this company! We have solar, and wanted battery backup. We went with NRG Clean Power in April, 2022. I currently have a battery sitting in my garage, uninstalled. EVERY time estimate they have given for completion has been wrong (the first saleswoman said for a simple battery-only install, 6-8 weeks!). As others have said, communications are horrible. The ONLY time this company has initiated contact is when payment is due. In July (after I contacted them to ask about the 6-8 week estimate), I was told the permit application had been kicked back by the fire department, so it would be a couple more weeks to get it approved. The permit was approved at the end of October (I only found this out when I received a payment request via email). I called to ask about the payment request, and was told at that time that installs were being scheduled 2-4 weeks out, so I would be contacted soon to schedule the install. In late November, and again in December, I reached out to NRG Clean Power to ask about my installation. After contacting NRC Clean Power executives (via LinkeIn), I was given an installation date of January 16th (a Monday). I received a call on Friday, January 13th, telling me the installation was cancelled and would have to be rescheduled. After receiving a new Project Manager, I was given an installation date on February 28th (today). I emailed my Project Manager on Thursday, February 23rd, just to check to see if everything was in order. His response was, "I have not received any update from the installer that there will be a delay, which means this is still scheduled for 02/28/23." Gee, you think maybe you could just check with the installer to confirm? Well, it's 10 AM, and I haven't seen or heard anything from NRG or the installer. In six weeks, it will be one year since we started this debacle. Time for more frustrating attempts at communication with this company. Save yourself the trouble, for anything solar-related, go with a different company.

We chose NRG for our solar installation. Everyone we worked with (especially Gemma and Leila) was incredibly helpful and responsive along every step of the process. They responded to emails and texts within a day or two at the most, but usually within a couple of hours. They were patient and very helpful with all of the questions we had (and we had many!), and they were happy to coordinate with other contractors that were doing work on our house at the same time. We did a fairly detailed analysis of the quality, cost, efficiencies, and expected lifetime of the equipment that NRG proposed compared to other companies, and we are confident that they provided the best equipment at the best cost. The installers that came to our house were very professional, worked quickly, and the system was up and running within hours - very impressive. We passed our inspection with no issues and the whole process was completely painless! We are very impressed with the services and products provided by NRG and would wholeheartedly recommend them to family and friends!

I evaluated 5 bids for my rooftop PV installation: 4 local firms and one regional firm (NRG). I was very glad to have chosen NRG. Their bid was the cheapest by a significant margin. The site survey, design and installation process was quick and smooth, despite the tribulations of the ongoing COVID-19 threat. Production from the system is exceeding specification, and my first monthly electric bill was -$15.

First let me start by saying this is the second project completed on our home. Our home was a new build and wanted to put solar on it right away. So a few months after it was purchased we added solar. We enjoyed the sales person was helpful and frankly wish I would have been able to speak to them throughout the project. Unfortunately because you do not have one point of contact information was lost in the transition but over all satisfied with the project. However less than a year later we still have an electric bill and had to add additional panels. We contacted NRG since they did the original project for us. Unfortunately this time it was just a cluster. From the installers not showing up in the time frame we were given. Told us they needed to enter the home when we were told they would not have to, To the installers actually installing the panels on the wrong side of the roof. The project manager was not concerned, just said they would send someone out to fix. I wanted an explanation to how and why this happened and details as to how they were going to fix this on our one year old roof. Since it voids our builder warranty. The Project Manager just made excuses and lied. I sent her proof and she just ignored the emails. It took a very long time to get an explanation out of them. When I asked to speak to someone else. They told me no, I could talk to them. In order to get the project going again I let them know that I wanted before during and after photos of the repair. After I received that and an addendum for the additional warranty on the side of the roof they damaged. I would make the last part of the payment. I have been badger from them for the week since the project for payment. Right after they left the house, before I was able to see it or have someone to talk to about how the repair went or have the pictures and addendum they demanded payment within 2 hours of the installer leaving and hours before I would even be home. It took me til Monday 3/23 to even get an explanation to the pictures I received and answer the questions I had. When I asked questions they were avoided and demanding payment. I finally received all the pictures yesterday 3/24 as well as the original addendum that I requested and was to be provided before final payment was to be made. Some of the pictures are unable to opened still, requested by still have not received. I have had them badger me for payment over and over but still have not fully satisfied their promises of what would be done prior to payment being collected. I would never do business with them again. Being treated like this, voiding my warranty on a new home and harassed over the last 8% of the project when they have not even done their completed their job. I am astounded that my husband and I had to find the mistake ourselves and now finding we have more damage to the tiles on our roof as well, many tiles are cracked from the installation and or inspections.

A pleasant experience from start to finish. The quoting process was a good two-way discussion, and cordial - no pushy salesman telling you how bad Company X or Y was. Just honest, factual, and straightforward. They quoted us a system with the panels, racking, and inverter which we wanted, not what they were pushing. The quote wasn't the best (hence the 'B' for price) but it did offer the best VALUE when we considered the equipment specification and the stability of the company - an important consideration when looking at a system with a 25 year life! The installation was scheduled by our coordinator, Sherry, and the team showed up when promised and got the job completed on time. Quality of workmanship was first rate and the entire installation was done with care, and tidied away before the team left. Permitting and PG&E inspection were all handled by Sherry, and that was also quick and flawless. Overall, the system they installed easily meets their projections in terms of performance, and it effectively pays for itself. We really couldn't be more pleased with NRG Clean Power and have recommended them to friends and neighbors. We'd recommend you give them your consideration if your looking for solar power.

It is a project. It took time, effort, and energy to learn all the aspects involved. The team at NRG was always there to lend a hand. Tiffany, Andy, Leslie, and Daniel were all very good in providing me with a sound board with which to reverberate.

Overall experience was excellent. The only problem we encountered was when there were 2 project manager changes. I did not hear anything for 2 weeks, but when I called and spoke to a manager I received a call that day and Tiffany (new PM) was very helpful and professional. She was prompt and honest with project timelines. I would highly recommend NRG to anyone looking to install solar. There will always be issues and problems, but the sign of a good contractor is how they respond.

Dylan & Lauren Palmer, San Diego Harold was an awesome salesman, thorough and answered all our questions. He was responsive and intentive to all our needs. Tiffany was great coorindating the project. She informative and kept us in the loop. She was there when we had any questions about the steps to take. Installers were crazy fast, nice and efficient. Cleaned everyday and no messes were found. NRG also did our HVAC and it was a great experience as well. No complaints from any of the sub contractor. Robert came out on Saturday to evaluate the system and also show me how everything works. Enjoyed the drone fly over I think its great when company uses technology to educate their clients. Solar edge is a great way to show your production and is very easy to use. Should have done it sooner!!

As soon as we started noticing solar prices started to become more affordable on the makret we got in contact with NRG Clean Power. Reece was our sales consultant and he was very knowledgeable. Personable guy with lots of professionalism. From the installers to the coordination with Tiffany was outstanding. Everything was completed in a timely manner from installation,permitting and finalizing everything. Can't thank Robert enough who came over from LA to look over the solar with them. Keep in mind, this is my first time getting solar and I had no idea how to operate such new age technology. Taught me everything I needed to know about my solar and where to turn things off incase of fire emergency. Everyone from NRG has been really helpful and courteous all the way through. We got 18 panels from Hyundai with a total system output of 6.84 kW on a single story roof. Panels look phenominal on the roof and very clean install. I interviewed 4 solar companies and NRG stand out the most because of the pricing. Kaelen came over and went through the numbers and everything made sense. I like the inverters and panels that NRG offered. Tiffany was great coordinating the project and handling the H.O.A. To get it approved by HOA took 3 days and after installation the city inspection took 1 day. Installers took 2 days to install 32 panels on a two story home. NRG seems like they really care because they sent out Robert after everything is completed to make sure I am completely satisfied with my solar. Love using the solar edge app and monitoring my production. Very useful tool if you want to manage your electricity. I am so pleased with NRG I am going to refer my neighbor who also wants solar. I was shopping around for a solar company and I went with NRG because the offered me a better price. Daniel came over and explained the benefits of going solar. We were trying to figure out if leasing or buying would fit our needs and it ended being that buying was the better solution. Even on a plus side, Daniel gave me a panel upgrade deal I could not let refuse. Installers were quick to install my 15 panels on my roof. Clean install and professional work was delivered. Tiffany was very prompt in answering my calls and emails. She coordinated the project well and made things go smoothly. Robert came out when project is completed to give me the last end of support and to answer any questions I had about my system. Tutored me on the system and also took amazing drone shots of my property. Everything went good highly recommended. I am working on to getting my neighbor solar as well to get a referral bonus. Erica & Louis Marrone - Reece was our salesman and he seems like a very honest and knowledgeable about the product he was selling. He went over with us to our SDG & E bills and helped us save electricity even if we were not going to buy it. Tiffany was prompt and emailed me back when I needed questions. Installers did a great job installing the panels. Solar looks great on the roof very happy about it. Solar edge app is very simple to use and easy to track your production use.
