"Fantastic. Everyone from start to finish was super professional and super friendly. The sales/estimate and measurement guys both did a great job explaining things to us, the windows look great and fit perfectly (already got compliments on them), and the guys installing the windows were all very respectful about keeping from making a big mess. Everyone we dealt with had great attitudes; they worked hard but were so friendly it felt like they were just friends helping out. Great service overall, much better than another place we checked out earlier, and the price was actually much more reasonable, too."

Customers say: Quality work

"I was looking for someone who could do multiple remodeling jobs on my house. To start with, I needed my front door and side door replaced. I had a bad experience with a remodeling contractor in the past so I was very cautious about hiring someone who would farm the work off to subpar service providers and upcharge me every chance they could get. I could tell from Pier's reviews and after he visited my house and did a walkthrough that this would not be the case. Pier has a clear eye for detail and a drive for quality that is very rare in the construction business. Furthermore, he did nearly all of the work himself, and even in the face of considerable amount of extra unplanned work to install the front door, did not ask for any extra money or revise the contract. As many other reviews stated, Pier is not one of the lower cost contractors. Not by far. But I was done hiring people for the lowest cost only to get lowest quality. Pier builds some amount of risk into his price so that when unexpected things arise, as they did, they are already priced in. It took him about two days to install two doors, and he did everything except painting himself. He did not finish until he was satisfied that the work was done. He came on two Saturdays so that he could work around his other projects, which I appreciated because I didn't have to take time off work. The only work he subbed out was the painting, and as he helped us decide that a fiberglass door for the side door that faced the sun it did not need painting. He ordered the doors from a door manufacturer that was made in the USA from pacific northwest wood (no Home Depot doors). The painter he uses is meticulous in prepping the site to cover all windows. As we were planning to repaint the house later, he only primed the door so that it was ready to be painted later. The primer looked so good on the outside that it felt like a new door with fresh paint and stood out. After he was done he took all the old doors and cut them down to small pieces and hauled them away. He prepped all the areas he was working on with blankets and swept up as he went, and ensured that the work site was immaculate before he left each day. Pier's payment terms are very generous as well. He took the maximum allowed 10% deposit before he ordered the doors, and didn't ask me to pay anything else until the job was complete and signed off as satisfied. Pier responds promptly to text messages and emails, but calls often and always answers his phone even when on site at another job. He cares about his clients and that they get quality work done, and is often fixing poor work done by other building contractors. With other contractors, I had to supervise the work and measure and check at the end of each day that the work was going to plan and that there would not be any snags in the future. That was not the case here, and I did not have to worry or "check in" ever, since Pier was always on site, doing the work himself, and was more accurate than I could be."

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

Most window screens last for about 10 to 12 years, assuming they are made from quality materials and receive proper care. The lifespan of common materials like fiberglass and aluminum can vary based on weather exposure, as constant sun or harsh winters can accelerate wear and tear. Regular cleaning and basic maintenance can help extend their life. Signs that a screen needs to be replaced include rips, tears, brittle or sagging material, fading, or a bent frame. While small tears can often be repaired, larger areas of damage typically mean it's time to replace the entire screen.

Yes, you can absolutely put a screen on a casement window, and most casement windows come with screens. Unlike with a double-hung, single-hung, or sliding window, the screen in a casement window sits on the inside of the window so that the sash can freely open outward. Screens are especially important for casement windows because the large window opening the window provides leaves your home more open to bugs and outside debris than most other types of operable windows.

Solar screens are low-maintenance but benefit from occasional cleaning with mild soap and water. Avoid using harsh chemicals or pressure washing, as these can damage the mesh. Inspect screens annually for tears or loose frames to maintain performance. In dusty or coastal areas, more frequent cleaning may be necessary to prevent buildup.

There are different types of screen materials available when purchasing a screen door, but the two main options are fiberglass and aluminum. Fiberglass is lightweight and affordable, but can stretch out, so it needs to be replaced more often. Aluminum has a higher upfront cost, but is more sturdy. Aluminum can be more difficult to install, even if you know how to replace screen door mesh.

If you’d rather repair your screen door mesh than replace it, you can patch it. Purchase a mesh patch for screen doors with small holes or tears, especially if the mesh is pretty new. Hardware stores and websites sell mesh patches that are easy to apply with an adhesive or a warm hair dryer. Keep in mind that repairs won’t look as aesthetically pleasing in most cases as a full replacement.
