"Adam and his team of workers gave me a great deal on replacing the insulation in the attic. We had a leak in one of the fire alarm sprinklers that caused the insulation to be bad and smelly.
We spoke to Adam about the problem and he sent his employee (Luis) to come over and check the problem in order to provide us  with a quote.
The quote that Adam was able to give us was very good and we approved the work. He than sent 2 workers to do the job and it was done in 2 days after they had to clean everything in the attic and to try it before they placed the new insulation.

"We just completed our remodeling project with Best Builders Group and it was a great experience overall. We added a master suite (appx 350 sq. ft.) to our house. We got several estimates from several construction companies and we decided to hire Best Builders Group for that because of their big experience in design, great price and great approach. The addition project was not simple at all but Zohar handled each stage of the work very productive and he always kept us up to date about the entire progress. His design was a huge advantage and it was the main thing that we couldn’t fins in the other ones. Our bathroom addition is definitely stunning and it’s our favorite part at the house now. Zohar also recommended to have a tile wall and floor tile that made the bathroom a beautiful one! More than that, he was very hard working worked extra hours because of our long schedules. Zohar and his professional crew were very respectful of our time and space. Overall, we are excited with the addition and thankful to Zohar and Best Builders group."

"At this point, i can recommend this company in case you need to have someone professional, reliable and not expensive to work at your attic in case you will have any issues there. This company came over and replaced the insulation due to several problems that i had there.
Their price was good too and they came to my house in the time frame that was set ahead of time by their office.

"We had a mainline sewage issue with extensive water damage due to tree root damage that caused us to have to replace flooring, baseboards, subfloor and repair walls removed in the water and asbestos remediation process in bathroom, hallway, laundry, family room and kitchen.

Tony was very helpful in providing a thorough estimate of the costs, including pointing out damage that needed to be repaired,  that had not been itemized by the insurance company's estimator.  He worked within the allotted payments provided by the insurance company and began his work quickly even though he had to wait for a couple of weeks for payment due to insurance company delays.

We had used his services for another bathroom project and found him on Angie's List at that time.  I was very happy with that smaller job and was confident in using his services for this, much larger project."

"NRG Heating and Air-conditioning provided excellent and extremely professional and timely service.  Everything was done above my expectations and completed on time.  From the inception of my contact with NRG, the office manager, Mike Molloy was professional, friendly and detail oriented in preparing the contract and ensuring to include all items that I requested.  The owner of the company, Joe Tamir, was exceptional, professional and amazing in taking responsibility for all aspects of the the project and personally showed up throughout the project to make sure all was going well. Al Cohen was in charge of managing the air-conditioning and electrical portions of the project and he is the smartest professional I have met so far.  He was able to explain and calculate the energy efficiency that I will enjoy with my new 5 ton Lenox package unit.  Filepe was in charge of installing the Lenox package unit and he was very good and respectful of my home.  All workers from NRG were respectful of my home and are frankly one of the best set of workers I have encountered in my life.  I have already referred NRG to my neighbors and friends and will continue to refer NRG for anyone needing, air-conditioning, ducting, insulation, solar panels, roofing, and electrical work. In light of the fact that most people do not have perfect experiences with construction work, I feel extremely lucky to have encountered NRG and I will continue to hire them for all future work."

"He was punctual, fully equipped, knowledgeable, courteous. He inspected both our furnace in the attic and the a/c unit out back. He measured airflow and even made an adjustment to increase the airflow through the kitchen duct. Great improvement! He gave us both a verbal and written report and recommendation. When the time comes to make improvements, we'll definitely call Danco first."

"I originally received bids from 3 constructions companies and had planned to go with the least expensive of the bunch. However, after my husband and I spoke with Danny, he seemed the most straightforward and professional of the three.  Their bid actually came in between the other two... But the company with the lowest bid had some questionable reviews online and i was not willing to take that type of chance.

Danny did not attempt to sell us more than what we were originally planning to do; he DID make suggestions that would benefit us and improve the value of our home.

We sat down together and went over all of the components and came to a fair price, which NEVER CHANGED throughout the entire process.

I was not looking forward to sharing my space with construction workers for several weeks, so I was pleasantly surprised when we were provided with a very courteous, trustworthy, professional and unobtrusive crew who put protection down over the areas where they would need to walk, cleaned behind themselves daily and did EXCELLENT work with very little involvement from me after my initial instructions to Danny, which he made sure were very detailed.

I am more than pleased with all of the work by GoodFellas, they did not cut corners or attempt to change the contract in any way.

If I had questions or needed to speak with Danny for any reason, he was amazingly responsive and did everything within his power to make sure that my project lived up to my expectations.

I am literally trying to think of any other projects  that I could use Goodfellas for, because of the excellent work that they did on my home. I would gladly refer new customers to them, especially after dealing with construction on previous homes that cost a lot more and did not meet my expectations.

If you are thinking about hiring a construction company, I think you should at least have a conversation with Danny prior to selecting a company. He stands by his word and makes an arduous process a great deal easier on the homeowner.

Insulation questions, answered by experts

The heat loss through a poorly insulated attic when you’re running your furnace or heat pump during cold weather can be as high as 25%. This means you could see significantly higher energy costs to make up for this heat loss. The cost of adding insulation to the attic may eventually pay for itself through lower energy bills. If you decide to add a radiant barrier too, the radiant barrier cost may also pay for itself over time.

You should not use spray foam insulation in several specific areas. Avoid applying it in spaces exposed to high temperatures, such as near electrical boxes or recessed lighting, unless the foam is specifically rated for such use. Applying foam near electrical boxes can damage the wiring, and using it too close to lightboxes or recessed lights creates a potential fire hazard. Additionally, do not use spray foam in areas prone to shifting or movement, as this can lead to cracks and gaps in the insulation. Finally, open-cell foam is unsuitable for use below ground or in areas exposed to moisture because it can absorb water, which compromises its insulating effectiveness.

Drywall insulation costs around $1,800, on average, but prices can range from $500 to $4,500, depending on a few different factors. The following things are important considerations to make when pricing out your insulation project:

  • Square footage of insulation

  • Type of insulation

  • Climate in your area and the insulation R-value required

  • Whether or not your walls are already finished

  • Accessibility of the area

  • Whether or not you need old insulation removed first

There are two reasons why cellulose insulation repels rodents (and insects). First, the insulation has been treated with boric acid, which is a natural pest-repellent. In addition, the loose-fill style of cellulose creates less-than-ideal conditions for mice and other rodents to nest and burrow, helping to keep them at bay.

Yes, proper insulation in your attic or ceiling can help prevent ice dams. When attic spaces are too warm, they cause the snow on the roof over those areas to melt more quickly than the rest of the roof and then travel downward to a colder section of the roof where they refreeze. If less heat is allowed to escape from underneath the roof, snow will melt at a more consistent rate, making ice dams less likely.
