"Cornelio set an appointment the next day when I messaged to fix two faucets in our bathroom. He made a free inspection, gave us a very reasonable quote, and offered to work on the fix the same day. He explained to us how the cartridge in the faucets are clean and unclogged, but the faucet body from the cheap brand is clogged and not serviceable. He recommended replacement faucets that should last longer and serviceable. We appreciated his honesty and would ask for his service again!"

"The 2 guys came prepared. They did the job great. They pulled out the old water heater and replaced it with new one within the quoted price, without nickle and diming. I am happy with the work they did. I would gladly hire them again for any future plumbing needs. Thanks."

"Evan did a great job. I tried to remove the tub faucet myself, but it didn't budge. Evan had the right tool for the job and it came right off and he replace the faucet with a high quality replacement. Next I showed him the leaky faucet connection under my kitchen sink. He found that the O-ring was damage. Evan fixed the leak without having to buy a new Grohe faucet. Finally, he replaced all the RO filters on my Reverse Osmosis system. I had a great experience with Evan and will call him again. He is a professional."

Percolation Tests questions, answered by experts

Asbestos is a carcinogen, meaning it increases the risk of cancer. Inhaling asbestos fibers is linked to several respiratory issues, including asbestosis, or scarring on the lungs, lung cancer, and mesothelioma, another type of cancer. There's also a link between asbestos exposure and an increased risk of colon cancer and other cancers of the digestive system.

Usually, the people most at risk for disease related to asbestos exposure are those who spend a lot of time working around the material without protection. Electricians who work with asbestos wire have a higher risk of developing mesothelioma or lung cancer due to their exposure.

Federal law doesn’t require homeowners to disclose the presence of asbestos in their home, but some states and local municipalities may require it. That is why it’s important to test an older home for asbestos and other health hazards before moving forward with a sale.

Asbestos is commonly found in certain older homes, depending on the time period in which they were built. Asbestos use in home construction began in the 1920s and peaked after World War II before being limited by legislation in the ’70s, so a house constructed in 1880 is unlikely to contain asbestos, while one built in 1950 is much more likely to. Research a home’s history to determine the time period when it was built and any renovations made since.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) banned the use of asbestos pipe insulation in certain applications in 1975. It released further bans in 1989 and 2019. While asbestos pipe insulation was common from the 1930s to 1970s, its use fell off after the 1970s due to public concern and the EPA's actions.

Since DIY asbestos removal isn’t the best option to save money, there are other steps that you can take to help cut costs when dealing with this project. After speaking with your asbestos removal expert, discuss if encapsulation is an option. If it is, you can save between 15% to 25% on overall project costs over demolition and disposal. In addition, when speaking with your professional, discuss if there are any tax credits available for your removal project. Finally, check with your homeowner’s insurance to see if any removal costs might be covered. However, be aware that this is usually only applicable if the asbestos is due to a covered incident, like a tree falling into your roof.
