"When I called for an estimate I was surprised at how quickly Mr. Straus was able to come. I knew the carpeting I wanted and he was able to get it in a reasonable time. (The carpet had to be run specially by the manufacturer.) When my remodel slowed down, he was very flexible about re-scheduling the date of installation to meet my new needs. The installation was painless, with workers arriving exactly when they said they would, cleaning up after themselves, and making seams that were almost invisible, with a single exception. When I wrote Mr. Straus that my worry was not about the lack of invisibility of a single seam but the fear it might unravel with time. He guaranteed he would fix it if that happened. "I was very impressed with both the owner-operator and the work. First, he vacuumed the carpets to be cleaned. The blood stains were several years old and I had removed as much as possible, but there were dark spots left. They are completely gone now. I had forgotten that I had the same company clean our carpets in 2001, but found this by searching in my check book. Interesting coincidence. "Kem is easy to get hold of and very responsive. However, he is very difficult to understand, but we were able to negotiate the terms of service, scope of work and timeline.  I did not receive any follow-up calls to confirm the start date/time that we agreed upon; I called him to confirm.  His crew (of two) showed up on time and completed the work in approx 4 days.  We were extremely pleased with their work. The only downside - and one which Kem warned me of - is that the baseboard and trim paint does get chipped and scuffed because of sanding.

The smell of the poly also lasts several weeks afterwards, so be prepared to let the house air out or live with the odor for a bit
