Doing so binds the turning mechanism, which will prevent your doorknob from bouncing back when you turn and release it. To fix this problem, loosen the mounting screws just a little so that the knob bounces back as expected but doesn’t wiggle. If this doesn’t fix the issue, try loosening the knob, centering it in the boring hole, and then tightening it.
