"JC was great! Very professional and courteous. He assessed the situation and stayed until the door was opening smoothly like new again. He even repainted the wood door frame ( with my touch up paint) where he had to fix. Would definitely recommend- Great job!"

"We own a 2-story geodesic dome and it had developed a few cracks along the tape seams on some of the ceiling panels. Jose and Rudy did a fantastic job in repairing these. A pair of the cracks could only be reached by setting up scaffolding, which they did during the first day. Jose noticed that some of the cracking had been caused by drywall panels that had been nailed in place dropping down somewhat over 40 years. He corrected that by reanchoring with screws and then applied setting compound, tape and orange peel surface texture that could handle the slight angles of the geodesic ceiling. Jose and Rudy then did a great job of taking down the scaffolding and the protective sheeting and completely cleaning up the work area. On the second day, Jose came back and finished the project by applying primer and two coats of paint to the repaired ceiling areas. Everything matched perfectly and we are very happy with the results."

"We hired Juan and his team to smooth out textured drywall in our house (wall and ceiling), going to a Level 5 finish. They did an amazing job, quality was top notch, attention to detail was amazing. I had absolutely no stress as Juan took care of the things like he was working for his own house project, he did not need to be told, he found issues and fixed them. This is not easy stuff, not something you can just look at You Tube and fix. Requires skill and patience. Required 3 coats of plaster with sanding in between. One coat a day. Lot of work!!! and final product was amazing!!! He also kept everything clean and protected as he knew we lived in the house during the actual work. Cleaned up at end of every day. Will certainly hire him the next time for similar work."

Wall Repair questions, answered by experts

With foundation walls, the slab on grade and force at the top of the wall is resisted by flooring. With retaining walls, the force at the top of the wall is not resisted.

Rebar is a steel support that goes inside concrete to prevent structural damage over time. Concrete is susceptible to impact, weight, and tension. By inserting rebar into the concrete during the installation, you can help extend its lifespan and avoid hazardous situations where the foundation of your home gives way to tensile forces.

To maintain the integrity of your landscape, a retaining wall must be installed if the slope of the angle exceeds 35 degrees. The lean of the wall must be 1 inch per 12 inches in height to disperse the weight of the soil uniformly and guarantee the correct drainage of the soil.

Railroad ties can be good for retaining walls, but it depends on the area. They have a desirable rustic look and are durable. The problem is they’re treated with creosote, a preservative the EPA says poses a risk to humans and wildlife. Over time, the preservative seeps out of the wood and into the ground. Many areas have banned the use of creosote-treated wood on residential properties. If your area does allow it, never use railroad ties near an edible garden or drinking water source. Instead, use wood that’s treated with an EPA-approved preservative or a wood-alternative composite material.

While vinyl is the least costly material for building a retaining wall, the most cost-effective method is to use wood or concrete blocks for a DIY retaining wall under 2 feet tall. Wood is inexpensive but lasts 20 years or more with care. Concrete can cost a little more but is stronger and will last longer with less maintenance.
