"The Drain City Plumbing, Inc. this company was absolutely the best. I have an older building with cast iron drains and main line. They did exactly what they said they would do. I was using another company but now Drain City plumbing is my go to. They came when they said and finished very timely. Also their prices are very reasonable. Look at the pipes they removed and replaced!"

"They came out once to snake a tub and it seemed ok when they finished but later that night realized I hadn't run it long enough before they left and the draining actually wasn't satisfactory. Called them the next day and they came out and snaked again, under the warranty, and started draining fine. During the process it was recommended that I may want to replace tub drain because it was old. Tony came out a few days later, provided an estimate, and 2 days later his team was here to do the work. What I liked about them was the communication with Angie at the office, their punctuality and customer service in general. That means more to me than the actual work. I have to assume they did good work but I'm not crawling under the house to find out, and, it's not my area of expertise anyway, so fingers crossed. Everything seems to be working great. Thank you, Tony's Plumbing."

"David came out after hours to clear a badly clogged drain for us, and we couldn?t be more grateful. We had water backing up and were really stressed, but he arrived quickly, was very professional, and explained everything clearly. He used hydro jetting to thoroughly clean the line, and you could immediately tell the difference ? the drain has been flowing perfectly ever since. What really stood out was his attitude and work ethic. Even though it was late, he took his time to do the job right and made sure everything was clean before leaving. Fair pricing, honest service, and top-notch work. Highly recommend David for any drain or sewer issues!"

"Excellent job! Good Guy Plumbing fixed my leaking water heater quickly and thoroughly for a fair price. Spoke with Robert over the phone and David came out to do the repair. Both were professional, knowledgeable and kind. I recently bought a new townhome and will be doing business with them for any future plumbing needs. Many thanks to David, Robert and Good Guy Plumbing. It’s such a relief knowing there are good, honest plumbers I can count on."

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Common causes include hair buildup, soap residue, food particles, and foreign objects. Older pipes can also contribute by facilitating buildup more easily.

Yes, you can pour water down the toilet to help it flush. For each flush, you’ll need 1 to 2 gallons of water for newer toilets or 3 to 5 gallons of water for older toilets. Rather than dumping the entire bucket in all at once, pour the water in slowly for the best results. If you’re pouring water down the toilet to help it flush after a clog, only use 1 gallon of hot water.

As a preventative measure, hydro jetting should be done every one to two years. However, the best practice is to hydro jet your sewer line once per year. The ideal frequency depends on several factors, including the age and condition of your pipes, how prone they are to clogging, how often the sewer line is used, and the type of waste disposed of in the system. If you frequently experience clogs or are unsure, it's best to ask a licensed plumber for a recommendation specific to your plumbing system.

While technically possible, it is unlikely that a clogged toilet will fix itself. Clogs caused by water-soluble materials like toilet paper or human waste may eventually break down in the water, allowing flow to resume. However, this can take time, and any clogs from solid objects require manual removal. In most scenarios, especially if you don't have another bathroom, it is best to fix the clog yourself or call a plumber.

Yes, drains are one common entry point for water bugs. However, water bugs may enter your home through various locations including doors, windows, pipes, and vents. Water bugs are drawn to the dark and moist atmosphere drains provide, and can easily find their way into your home through sewer drain pipes. You can stop water bugs from entering through drains by regularly cleaning your drains and repairing faulty drainage systems.
