"Victor was quick to come out and give me an estimate. He quickly understood the complexity of my project and gave me a good price on a solution. A couple of days later, he and his worker came out and finished the job in one day. He cut out and removed part of a concrete wall that was falling because of tree roots. He replaced it with a great looking fence. The area was cleaned up, and everything is in great order."

"I found Consolidated Concrete owners professional, efficient and friendly. Their prices were competive, and the owners folowed through and checked on the work while in progress. Their employees were also professional, friendly and efficient. I like to support American Family owned businesses, so was happy to find them. The driveway looks great! Thank you"

"Well, Noah responded and was here at exactly the time we agreed on. He took a look at the area where I wanted the concrete poured, quoted me a price and then went on to explain in detail how I could do the job myself for 1/4 the cost. I appreciated his honesty and expert opinion and took his advice ! He’s a great guy, to the point where my wife and I invited him to stop by any time. So now I have a home project that I look actually forward to doing, and learning. But if things go sideways, I’ll definitely call this company again. So thank you for the honesty and advice. I wish all contractors and companies were as reliable. Sincerely, Kris A. Cummings (USMC) Semper Fi !"

"Jason and crew were very busy, but they squeezed in my small job on a Sunday! WHO works on SUNDAY if they don't have to? Answer: A businessman who is keen on growing his business and accommodating his customers. And, a fine job he did, turning a simple 4' by 4' concrete slab into a distinctive semi-artsy thing that is pleasing to my eye. Jim-dandy work you three."

Concrete Mudjacking questions, answered by experts

There is no real alternative to underpinning, although mudjacking and polyjacking are other repair methods that can add support from underneath your foundation. Rather than placing supportive piers under your structure, these involve pumping a material under your slab to lift a sunken section back into its original position. Polyjacking, in particular, is sometimes a suitable solution for stabilization issues under slab foundations, but underpinning is often accepted as the best and most permanent solution.

Mudjacking typically takes 24 to 72 hours (one to three days) to dry and cure completely before you can resume normal use. The total drying time can vary depending on the size of the project. Because the slurry mixture contains cement, it needs to harden fully to prevent the concrete slab from shifting under added weight. You should avoid walking on the concrete or placing heavy items like furniture or vehicles on the surface until it has fully set. Your concrete contractor can provide a precise timeline. As a point of comparison, if you opt for polyjacking, the polyurethane foam can dry in minutes, but it's recommended to wait about an hour before use.

Trenching and boring are two distinct methods for installing underground utilities. Trenching involves digging a channel using equipment like an excavator, trencher, backhoe, or shovel. While it is a simpler process, it causes significant disruption to the surface, landscaping, and surrounding ecosystems.

Boring, also known as directional boring, is a less invasive alternative that uses a drill to create a tunnel for utility lines without disturbing the surface. This method is more precise and is ideal for installations that need to go underneath buildings, roads, or bodies of water. Although boring is less disruptive, it is generally more expensive than trenching.

Mudjacking typically takes 24 to 72 hours (one to three days) to dry and cure completely before you can resume normal use. The exact time can vary depending on the size of the project. Because the slurry mixture contains cement, it must fully harden to ensure that added weight from walking, furniture, or vehicles won't shift the concrete slab. A professional contractor can advise you on when the surface is safe to use. For comparison, if you use polyjacking instead, the polyurethane foam can dry in just a few minutes, but it's best to wait about an hour before use.

The average cost for mudjacking is around $1,200, though prices can range from $300 to $3,400. On a per-square-foot basis, you can expect to pay between $3 and $8, with an average of about $5 per square foot. The final cost depends on several factors, including the square footage of the concrete, the type of slab, its accessibility, whether it is load-bearing, and the type of material used to lift it. Generally, lifting a driveway, small patio, or sidewalk is less expensive than lifting a slab foundation or garage floor.
