"The Madrid team responded to a flood disaster at our home. This level of catastrophe required a bone up overhaul. With an incredibly fair bid, and within an impressive time frame, Issac and his beautiful wife and partner transformed our home. The job required multiple skills. We had thought we would have to use separate contractors but Madrid did it all: expertly laid hardwood floors, safely hung and wired specialty lighting throughout, precisely installed crown molding and baseboards, consulted with us on construction obstacles and provided solutions to our every single need. Issac is a craftsperson, which shone in the creation of artistic steps and unique tiled baseboards in a remodeled garage. The team handled purchases, pickups, deliveries, and all things intimidating to homeowners. With calm professionalism, they walked into our disaster and took the reins during an otherwise fairly difficult time. They contributed as color and texture consultants, painted, drywalled, installed cabinetry fixtures. All of this while leaving our home clean and livable for our family. We trust them now and with all future home projects - FOREVER. We have hailed their skill level and professionalism to family and friends and we are honored to share the same, publicly. We also appreciated their adherence to safety best practices during this unique time in our community concerning COVID restrictions. Five Stars and then some!!!"

"Ariyana Borge and Aiden Ferris came to our house measured the shower in both bathrooms and we told them what we wanted done to the bathrooms, they showed us the products that we can choose from and then asked us what designs we wanted we chose from those and then they ran some numbers, gave us a quote. We liked how inviting they were and how friendly they were an answered all of our questions with no hesitation as to figure out how to answer that question they know their stuff and I highly recommend them to come out and give you a quote of your own."

"Eric is amazing. I’ve worked with him on multiple projects over a year and a half approximately. He’s been able to help me re-side multiple homes with cement fiber board, he’s has remodeled bathrooms, drywall repair and in many places complete reconstruction. He has done an amazing job reframing countless windows and doors for me. He has built fences for me, and rewired large sections of homes for me as well. Skylight installation, roof repair, painting…the list goes on. In truth I’ve utilized his skills and knowledge so much that I often wonder how I was able to do things before I was introduced to him. His work has always been above and beyond what I expected and his rates have obviously been more then reasonable, otherwise I wouldn’t have utilized his services so many times. I cannot recommend his services enough, and I will continue to use him as often as I can."

Kitchen and Bathroom Remodel questions, answered by experts

While most modern sinks, toilets, and showers last up to 20 years or more with no issues, experts suggest a bathroom remodel should take place at least once a decade. Otherwise, your bathroom might start to look dated. However, the frequency depends on a few different factors, including the quality of the original materials, how well the space has been maintained, and your personal preferences. Signs it’s time for a refresh include outdated fixtures, worn surfaces, poor functionality, or simply wanting to update the look.

Small bathroom renovation costs don’t have to break the bank. A $5,000 budget is realistic, provided you're not adding luxurious fittings or making complex layout changes. Changing the layout is the most costly aspect of renovating a bathroom. So if you keep the layout, do some of the job DIY (within your skillset), and use relatively affordable fixtures and accessories, you should be able to stay within your budget.

In most cases, it is safe to stay in a house while renovating. However, you should take precautions if there is active construction going on. You should keep the main living area separate from the construction zone, and make sure animals and kids don’t have access to any dangerous equipment. It’s not safe to stay in a home that’s having asbestos removed.

To make a bathroom look bigger, choose light-colored, medium- to large-format tiles. Light colors such as white, cream, or light gray make a space feel more open, while dark colors, busy patterns, and small tiles can make a bathroom feel smaller. It may seem counterintuitive, but small tiles can shrink a room visually due to the increased number of grout lines. Using medium- to large-format tiles creates a more seamless look. For the best effect, pair your light-colored tiles with a matching or similarly colored grout. This minimizes the grid-like pattern and gives the floor and walls a more continuous, uninterrupted appearance, helping the room feel significantly larger.

Whether it’s better to add a bathroom to an upstairs or downstairs floor will depend on the home’s layout and your needs. Powder rooms and guest bathrooms are commonly on lower levels, while primary bathrooms are upstairs. When deciding, consider where the bedrooms are located and where your family spends the most time. If you don't have a bathroom in the basement but use the space, adding a bathroom there could be a great option.
