"Service man arrived as expected and performed the annual maintenance of the air conditioning system. The work was thorough and it was something that was familiar to me as I used to do in my younger years. With heavy use of airconditioning in the summer in CA, this is important and something we do every year.

"Did a great job...it was a very long day from start to finish however. They did a great job of keeping everything as clean as they could since our attic access was in the master closet! Yikes! Really made a difference and our house stayed much cooler with the fan and new insulation!"

Small jobs welcome

"My wife and I have owned a rental property for many years that had been constantly rented but after the last tenant, was in desperate need of upgrades and repairs.  The major problem we faced was how to coordinate the work done in San Diego when we lived in Colorado?
I made a short trip to San Diego to interview numerous vendors and contractors and pick out basic designs.  After interviewing numerous vendors we settled on Dave at I'll Handle It to manage the bulk of the repairs and upgrades.
All I can say is Wow!  What a great experience!   We could not have been happier with the quality of the work, the price, and the professionalism that we found with I'll Handle it.   Dave definitely named his company appropriately and stands by it.   Everything went smoothly.   I observed the entire process remotely from Colorado and Dave sent me pictures throughout the project.  When I finally made the trip to San Diego to do the final inspection, my expectations were exceeded by the quality of the work and how well everything turned out.  I was able to rent the unit to the first tenant that saw the property.  It was the perfect tenant for the property, and we are very pleased with the entire experience.   I don't think we could have selected a better guy to do the job.  I will definitely use Dave in the future for any repairs or upgrades."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

While spending money once or twice a year to tuneup your AC and furnace might seem like a waste of money, think again. The cost of HVAC maintenance is far less than the cost of replacing your furnace or AC unit, regardless of the type of HVAC system you have. Paying this smaller fee now will help you avoid paying much more significant costs in the future. Not to mention, having a serviced AC and heating system will help keep your home comfortable, no matter the season.

If possible, avoid placing furniture in front of a return air vent. A blocked air vent can cause your HVAC system to use more energy, which in turn can lower the life span of your unit and raise your energy bill. Furniture can also trap hot or cold air, damaging your furniture or appliances.

Professional duct installers suggest leaving between six and 12 inches of space in front of an air return vent. If you must place furniture in front of a return air vent, try to aim for putting furniture over a floor vent instead of in front of a wall vent, and avoid draping curtains over any vent system.

There are several common types of HVAC systems that you may have, including split systems, hybrid HVAC, duct-free systems, packaged heating and air, geothermal heating, or even portable units for heating or cooling. If you aren’t sure which type is in your home or are looking to install something different, you should consult an HVAC pro to determine which option is right for your heating and cooling needs.

The best way to save money on HVAC repairs is by regularly having your system inspected and maintained. This can prevent bigger problems and costly repairs and replacements in the future. It’s also smart to buy quality equipment and hire companies that provide warranties on equipment and labor. If you need repairs, you may be able to save money by cashing in on rebates and incentives or keeping the area around your HVAC unit clear to shorten the time your contractor needs to spend in your home.

You should know the main components of an air conditioner: the condenser coils, evaporator coils, drip pan, AC filter, ducts, and refrigerant. Each part plays a key role in the performance and safety of your AC system. When tracking the source of AC issues or odors, it helps to know where to look. Your outdoor unit houses your condenser coils, fan, and compressor. Your indoor unit houses your evaporator coils, drain lines, and filter, and it connects to your ductwork.
