"They came, they diagnosed the problem (which wasn't in the air conditioning), they told me how to fix it, and then they left...after having refused payment!!!!! i thought i must be living in the 1950's in a small town!!"
Using the sewer camera to inspect the inside of a customer's drains
Camera inspection through a sewer vent on a customer's roof
Hydro jet uses water at 4,000psi to clean the inside of the mainline drain which connects all the home's drains to the city's sewer system.
Using a snake we can go through the cleanouts on the side of the house.
With the cleanouts snaked, and the blockage located, we can send the hydro jet through the sewer vent and flush out the blocked drain.

"I called California Attic for my Insualtion project and they were stellar! Didn’t know what type of insualtion would be best for my home and their technician Sean was so good at explaining to me my options. I went ahead with the cellulose and I couldn’t be happier with the result! My home is so much more stable now and I feel like I’m never turning on the air. Couldn’t recommend this team more! Thank you Sean and the California Attic team"

"excellent service !!! Arrived on time and completed the work with a lot of dedication . the service engineer took the extra effort to take some videos of the AC evaporator which was in the attic and explain me about the condition of the AC . I would hire them again for AC tune up services ."

"I was really impressed with Stephan Alanis and his team from start to finish while they replaced my old HVAC system with a brand new one. It was finished about six months ago, and both units are running perfectly. I felt comfortable trusting Stephan with this project, even though it was my first time doing business with him. Despite never meeting him in person, Stephan was always just a phone call away to answer any questions or concerns I had. His pricing was super competitive, and the products he recommended have been working great so far. I’d highly recommend him to anyone looking for HVAC services—he and his team really know their stuff!"

"The HERS audit consisted of a home inspection that mapped the exterior, listed all appliances, HVAC, Water heater, etc. They also performed and Door Pressure Test and Duct Leakage Tests. All these figures were placed in a computer model and the output was provided to me in 2 reports, an existing state and the impact of recommended changed on a future state.
The testing procedures were interesting but the reports are the what you are really paying for. I my case my newer home was relatively efficient and the recommend changes addressed my comfort level concerns, but were all relatively expensive. Per the model, a majority of my electrical expenses are associated with my appliances, so energy savings were comparatively minimal.
Recommendations and Costs
1) Convert to "conditioned" attic space, requiring the installation of closed cell foam in the rafters of the attic and the removal of all existing batt insulation (~$7,00)
2) Install an ERV whole house ventilation system to provide continuous fresh air
3) Replace 5 existing double pane windows with 5 new triple pane windows (~$2,500)
4) Install open cell foam insulation in my south facing walls (~$3,500) when you include repair and paint walls
These recommendations will dramatically improve the comfort in the upstairs, but ultimately energy saving paybacks are many years. I plan to implement recommendations #1 and #2. I also plan to install Solar to stabilize my electrical bills.
Jim, the owner of Healthyhomes4u was great. He answered all of my questions and helped me to prioritize my home efficiency improvement projects."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

The size window AC you need depends on the BTU and the size of the room you’re cooling. For a room with 8-foot ceilings, look for about 20 BTU per square foot of the room. For example, a 12-by-12-foot room should have an air conditioner with 2,880 BTU. You can buy something slightly more powerful, but don’t overshoot the BTU for a small room, or you’ll waste energy and have higher bills.

No, you don’t need a ductless unit in every room. Ductless AC units don't work the way that window units do, where the air doesn't travel outside that room. The indoor air handlers all attach to the outdoor condenser. While the air doesn't travel the way that traditional ductwork would, the ductless AC units create zones so that one part of the home can be cooler than another. They can spread effectively enough that indoor units only need to be placed in main living areas.

The general rule of thumb for figuring out how much AC tonnage you need in your home is that for every 500 to 600 square feet of space you need to cool, you’ll need one ton of AC cooling power. So, a 1,000-square-foot home will need 2 tons of AC power.

A 10,000-watt generator can run a small to mid-sized central AC unit (typically up to 3 tons or 36,000 BTU) along with a few other appliances. However, larger AC units or additional loads will require a bigger generator. Consult a local generator installer to ensure you add the correct size generator to your home.

You can buy a new AC capacitor through most big-box home improvement stores, from an HVAC contractor, or from the manufacturer. Use the model number of your air conditioning unit to make sure you purchase the right part for your unit. Also, keep in mind that the cost of this type of part can vary significantly depending on who you purchase it from, so shop around to get the best price.
