"One day we noticed a musty smell in our bathroom. Behind the toilet the baseboard was discoloring and rotting out. We called our insurance company and the leak had damaged the wall and floor. The insurance company gave us a list of contractors to call. We called three of them left messages and waited. Well we didn’t have to wait long for Berry Construction. Randy called us back almost immediately. He was caring, empathetic, professional and explained the whole process from start to finish. We were very happy with Mike, Billy and the entire staff. We had open communication through the whole process, and they did an amazing job making us whole again. One of the things that I really appreciated was that he responded back to me promptly whenever I texted him. True to any business, there were times when unexpected things came up and he had to postpone work that he had planned to be doing for me on a certain day, but he always communicated these issues to me, and when I had something that really needed to be done right away (such as getting the plumbing to the washing machine fixed on a weekend) he found a way to make it happen. Stucco siding is the most energy-efficient option on its own, but you can choose insulated vinyl, insulated metal, or insulated brick or stone facade siding that improves energy efficiency even further. These options include a layer of foam insulation under the siding to reduce heat transfer between your living space and the exterior. If you live in a particularly sunny climate, a reflective option like insulated steel or aluminum siding can maximize efficiency.

The cheapest and most inexpensive way to side a house is to use vinyl. Vinyl is very low-cost but may not last as long as natural materials or metal. However, it often lasts the same length of time the owners plan on living in the home (about 20 to 40 years). Certain types of vinyl siding, like vinyl shake, can be as low as $3 per square foot, but ask a siding pro if the lowest-cost option is the best material for your particular home. 

The main differences between dutch lap versus clapboard siding have to do with their design and texture. Clapboard siding features flat, beveled planks stacked at a slight angle, offering a simple, traditional look. Dutch lap siding features a subtly concave surface along with a notch that creates a shadowed look between the boards. This eye-catching design often resembles wood grain and introduces a noticeable shadow line, making it more visually interesting compared to the simpler look of clapboard siding.
