"Coming off an eleven-month whole house Interior Remodel, Rudy and Isaac were first contacted to review our initial hard scape plans for our front and backyard. They provided invaluable input as we finalized a scope of approximately 1900 sf of pavers, 50 lf of planter wall, built-in BBQ island and landscape lighting. We got ideas and bids from no less than five companies. We picked Paramount Pavers as our contractor, and we are very happy with the results. As our 5-7 week project progressed, we were in constant communication with Isaac. This was one of the better aspects of the project. Isaac was always a text response away. He always returned our requests promptly. Minor scope changes were mutually agreed upon and made for an improved project. We were not 'nickel and dimed' for change orders. The additional scope costs were reasonable, and some costs were absorbed by Paramount. As our project concluded, we added a pretty significant second phase of woodwork and gate replacement. We didn't hesitate to contract Paramount Pavers again without rebidding. After all the headaches of dealing with our General Contractor for our whole house interior remodel, our smooth interaction with Paramount Pavers was how a hardscape project should work!"

"Erinn was my initial contact and he gave a very through and fair estimate. We had structural work done to support floor joists and large beams under the garage that needed replacing. Ernesto and his team, Julio, Salvatore and Gilder worked tirelessly to complete the work and were respectful, punctual, informative and good humoured throughout the entire process. I would not hesitate to use them again or recommend them to others. A really great company!!"

Small jobs welcome

"Super seasoned crew with Ryan’s leadership delivered outstanding results with complete demolition of existing “cracked” hillside driveway (about 21ft by 30ft), fully reinforced with rebars and fiber lines to protect against future cracking. They have been doing this for generations and know masonry inside out"

"I have been dreaming for a while now about new landscaping for my home! Josef with MVP Remodeling offered financing options to make that dream into a reality. I am so happy I found them! Josef was able to approve me on the spot to finance the project and started the work 3 days later! It took a week for the job to be done and I could not be happier!!!"

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Most of the time, you don’t need to seal brickwork and can save that money for another area of home improvement. But if your brick is cracking or you live in an area with a lot of excess moisture (either in terms of rain or freezes), sealing can extend the lifetime of your home. But, make sure you use a breathable sealant, like siloxane, to allow the moisture to evaporate on its own.

No, using a power sander on brick is not recommended because the force of the sander can destroy brick's fragile outer layer. Even using sandpaper on brick is discouraged because of the damage its abrasiveness can cause.

Yes, you can technically use a pressure washer to remove paint from brick, but it comes with a significant risk of damaging the brick surface. A high-power pressure washer can be fast but may leave the brick looking unsightly. The recommended method is to first apply a chemical paint stripper, following the product's instructions, and then use a stiff metal bristle brush or a pressure washer on a low-pressure setting to remove the loosened paint. Due to the risk of damage, it is often best to hire a professional who can use low-stress methods.

When painting brick, each application method has distinct advantages and disadvantages. Spraying is significantly faster but may not penetrate deeply beyond the surface layer. Rolling is effective for working paint into the brick's texture but can be less effective on mortar joints. If you opt for a roller, choose a thick nap of at least a half-inch to ensure paint gets into all the crevices for even coverage. Using a brush is generally not recommended as it is very time-consuming and provides poor surface penetration. Ultimately, a combination of spraying followed by back-rolling is often the best strategy for a durable and even finish.

Yes, masonry is more expensive than concrete because the labor is much more involved. With masonry, your expert will build your project from the ground up, one piece at a time, ensuring they use the proper amount of mortar or grout during construction and keeping the project level or plumb. Pouring concrete can also be labor-intensive, but it’s a bit less involved. It requires building a mold, pouring the concrete, and letting it cure. The less intensive labor makes concrete a more affordable option in most cases.
