"This is my first time leaving a review for a company as I've never felt the need to, but using Pacific Environmental I feel I should share with my home owners. My husband and I bought out first home which we love but a room had acoustic ceiling. I reach out to PEAS, which everyone in the office was very helpful and patient on guiding me through this experience. Their scheduling was amazing as I was dealing with Closing Escrow and moving my family in. Once they arrived, they informed me on the scope of work and what they would be doing and what to expect, this being my 8-year-old son room so I was a bit worried on hazardous material that was being removed and used. CONTAINMENT WAS AMAZING! I was so happy and felt so safe on how they kept the area and the protection they took to take care of my family and themselves. My kids thought the crew looked pretty cool too, haha. CLEANING WAS AMAZING! Work was conducted upstairs and they went the extra mile and cleaned everything they touched, I really appreciate that, as it again made me feel secure and safe. PEAS left a memorial memory our kids still talk about. I strongly recommend them and would use them again."

"We have an older roof and was getting some estimates to replace the roof when it was suggested we have a mold test done in our attic area. AM:PM was recommended by a remodeling company and I was impressed with their reviews on line. The other factor that made them the choice for us was that we had extensive rodent droppings and insulation issues to boot. AM:PM was able to do it all! And at competitive pricing. They were very professional throughout the process. Dor, a representative for AM:PM is very communicative and courteous which is a lost art these days. They made this unpleasant process as pleasant as humanly possible."

"Great from start to finish the team did an amazing job. Very professional and courteous, they explained the process and timeline. Janny, Jose & Tony took care of a moldy ceiling for us, recommended 3rd party environmental testing companies for the all clear and a general contractor to patch up the work and all was resolved in just a few days! Hopefully we will stay mold free but if not I know who to call and feel safe to refer them to family and friends."

"not that great. basically paid $99 to get an estimate. included cleaning roof and minimal repairs. took a while to get appointment, and then when they came, they didn't even do the work! gave a really big estimate and then re-seheduled to have someone else do the work. they wouldn't totally replace the roof, gave different estimates to repair, I went with a different company to do a full roof rplacement."

"EVERYTHING WENT GREAT. DOV, MY CONTACT PERSON, WORKED WITH ME ON THE TIMING (ALLOWING ME TO PUSH OFF PROJECT FOR A MONTH) AND THE PRICING.  THE GUYS GOT STARTED WHEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD.  THEY CLEANED UP AT THE END OF EVERYDAY.  THE PROJECT MANAGER HAD THE INSPECTIONS SCHEDULE TIMELY AND THERE WAS LITTLE TO NO DOWNTIME. I WAS REALLY UNSURE, BUT THEY MADE EVERYTHING QUICK AND PAINLESS.  THANK YOU EVERYONE."

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

Radon enters your home when warm air begins to rise and exits through the roof, creating a vacuum that pulls cooler air from under the foundation. Part of that air is radon, which is an invisible, odorless gas that develops naturally when radioactive particles are deep within the ground. Those particles usually come from decaying matter in soil and rocks.

Radon is present almost everywhere but, like sunlight, the concentration levels and how often you are exposed to it have a large part to play in just how dangerous it is. There are levels of radon that are acceptable inside a house, but above a certain limit, radon becomes a serious radioactive hazard that is a known cause of lung cancer. In fact, radon exposure is the number two leading cause of lung cancer (after smoking).

Abatement includes sealing entry points and venting with systems that reduce radon levels below recommended EPA limits. It is handled by certified professionals.

Options include sub-slab depressurization, crawlspace ventilation, and sealing cracks. Choose based on home construction and radon levels.

No level of radon is technically safe, but since it is present everywhere, complete avoidance is impossible. The average radon level in homes across the United States is 1.3 picocuries per liter (pCi/L). The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends taking preventative measures if your home's radon levels are between 2 and 4 pCi/L or higher.
