"Isaac and his team did a wonderful job renovating our old, cave-like shower. The shower pan had leaked and needed be replaced. We then decided we might as well remodel. When Isaac came out to give us an estimate, he had the great idea of opening up the entrance to shower. This worked beautifully! Remodeling is such a messy job. The team took steps to keep the muddle to a minimum. They cleaned up nicely at the end of each day. Cory did a fabulous job installing the tile. He is extremely meticulous making sure everything is perfect. Had some special ideas that made the finished product better than we ever expected. Isaac always kept us kept us informed of each step of the process. He was right on target as to how long the project would take. The entire team was efficient and very personable. We will definitely have them update our other bathroom. We highly recommend Dynamic Plumbing."

"Guardian Plumbing repaired our high water pressure issue by replacing valve, flushed our tankless water heater, and fixed shower head leak. The repair cost was reasonable and the plumber was professional, courteous and did a good job with no issues. I will call them again for my next plumbing related service."

"I found RT Olsen Plumbing on Angie's List. Bob has a team of plumbers working for him, and to his credit, he picked up my call from the beach while he was on a short get away with his family. This may be more info than you need, but it illustrates his commitment and reliability. After checking with one of his guys to see if he could fit in a next day appointment (my day off), he confirmed back to me that they could get someone out. Daniel arrived slightly ahead of the promised time, which is never an issue. He had never done a reverse osmosis system install before, and he gave me a price for the work in advance after he had looked at all the pieces. I didn't bother to negotiate, as I needed to get the job done and it felt like a fair price, and it was the price I paid without any further increases. The price might have been higher than I anticipated to spend, given that I provided both the disposal and RO system units, but the job was done very well, and my wife and I are happy. I appreciated Daniel's knowledge and proficiency, and the peace of mind I had that the job was done right – the first time. Daniel noticed some other issues that needed repair while he was under the sink. Being the homeowner of a home where the previous flipper (I will not call THAT guy the "owner") had cut many corners and left us with many problems, I was not at all surprised. He identified why our garbage disposal always backs us up on the other side of the sink - totally incorrect plumbing. We already plan to hire RT Olsen again and will have Daniel come back. I'm confident he will get the job done. If you happen upon another plumber that I've reviewed on Angie's list, he’s been my go-to guy for a long time, but he also happens to be so many other people's go to guy now (GREAT problem for him to have). It was inevitable that I needed to have an alternative at the ready. Found it."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

You’ll only need to replace your sink’s pipes when you start to notice signs of wear like corrosion or leaking. Most pipes last somewhere between 20 and 100 years, depending on the material. Copper and cast iron can last up to 100 years. Galvanized steel and brass generally have a 50-year lifespan. PVC pipes last 25 to 40 years.

A back pressure valve is a control valve used on production vessels, such as separators, treaters, and free water knockouts. The valve holds pressure until a set point is reached, and then releases upstream pressure to reset. Back pressure valves are not safety mechanisms. Instead, they are regulators designed to keep the fluid, gas, or liquid mixture in a system at a certain pressure level to prevent bursts and other incidents.

Meanwhile, a backflow preventer is a safety mechanism that kicks in when the pressure has already failed and contaminated water flows in the reverse direction. Most backflow preventers consist of two one-way valves, or check valves assembled together. This design only allows water to pass through in one direction but not the other.

Pedestal sinks are bolted or screwed into the floor and the wall to prevent it from moving out of place. You may have to change or add to the bathroom flooring when installing a pedestal sink if the flooring was laid around the previous sink, not under it.

Yes, ammonia does damage pipes if used or disposed of improperly. Although ammonia-based cleaners are commonly used to unclog drain pipes, they either come already diluted or instruct the user to dilute them before use. Otherwise, undiluted ammonia is too caustic and could corrode certain plumbing types, such as PVC.

Regular inspections, promptly fixing leaks, and using water-efficient fixtures ensure plumbing systems operate efficiently in the long term.
