"During the inclement weather we experienced earlier this year (2023), our pool overflowed and flooded our backyard. We discovered that the pool overflow pipe was blocked or broken due to massive roots from nearby Redwoods. As there was no way to replace the pipes, given damage we would cause to the tree by cutting large roots so close to the trunk base, we elected to install a new overflow on the other side of the pool. I searched Angi and was matched with PFS led by Naji the company's founder. Naji visited with his team to do a free consult, and provided a quote the following day - a very reasonable and competitive price. The work was scheduled for the following week, but had to be re-scheduled due to an illness. The team arrived and prepped the area, removing concrete where the new overflow was to be installed. The concrete cuts were precise and extremely neat. Unfortunately during the removal of a stubborn root, one of the pipes leading to the spa was cut. The team immediately informed me of the mishap and called in a repair team (on a weekend!). New spa pipes were installed followed by the new overflow pipe. The team returned on Monday to complete the concrete work. Megail is a true genius with concrete, perfectly matching the existing aggregate. He even used a slightly different product (color and pebble size) to match a small section of overlap with a previous company's mismatched concrete work following a drainage job. Naji, the owner is a fascinating man and a terrific businessman. I thoroughly enjoyed talking to him, and respected the way he oversaw the job from beginning to end. I would highly recommend him and PFC to anyone needing pool repairs. I will also add that Angi is a great platform! The match to a pro was perfect, navigating the site was simple and efficient, the follow-up was first class. I will only use Angi from now on - no more Yelp or Nextdoor."

"Very thorough and helpful in going over the equipment and maintenance. As well as the seasonal requirements that a pool needs. I thought the water just needed to stay chlorinated but there is so much more. Great company I would recommend to anyone."

Pool and Spa Servicing questions, answered by experts

The best thing with which to clean a hot tub is whatever the manufacturer recommends; in most cases, this is a gentle surface cleaner and a soft cloth. Recommended hot tub cleaners can include specially formulated cleaning agents, mild dish soap, baking soda, vinegar, or diluted bleach. For your hot tub exterior, choose wood or vinyl cleaner (depending on the casing material).

You should never use household cleaning products, harsh chemicals such as undiluted bleach or acids, or abrasive cleansers or cloths, as these can scratch or etch your hot tub’s coating or shell and cause permanent damage.

Many people find saltwater tubs worth the upfront expense. They cost less to maintain than traditional hot tubs, so you can save in the long term. Maintenance is also easier, typically involving balancing the pH and cleaning the tub rather than adding chemicals. They’re also gentler on sensitive skin, and you won’t walk away with a strong chlorine odor.

The cost to repair a hot tub or spa ranges from about $170 to $550, depending on the repairs needed. Some of the most common hot tub repairs include leaks, clogged filters, and tripped GFCI breakers. If it’s an electrical problem, you should contact a professional hot tub repair service. Don’t DIY electrical repairs on a hot tub, as poorly repaired wiring can make the hot tub a serious electrocution hazard.

Hot tub heaters typically last seven to 10 years, though some might only last five years if not properly maintained. You can maximize your hot tub heater’s lifespan by ensuring the water’s pH level is properly balanced.

For a fully-foamed hot tub, freezing typically occurs when the temperature drops below 28 degrees Fahrenheit and remains at or below this level continuously for a minimum of 36 hours. If your hot tub and pumps are still operational, however, the water circulates, and this continuous movement helps prevent freezing, even in very cold conditions. This circulation, along with the insulation provided by the foam, helps maintain the water temperature and prevent it from freezing during extended cold periods. Still, if you’re not planning to run it regularly, be sure to winterize the hot tub properly to prevent damage from freezing.
