"I needed a 20x20 hole in my wall repaired. The hole was caused by electrical work and these guys came in and replaced the drywall and mudded it in exceptional fashion. Their work and professionalism is outstanding and you can't be the price."

"Very professional from start to finish.  He gave the drywall the smooth finish we were looking for.  Can't even tell where the seams were.  Excellent job.  I would certainly use Al again.

"This is the second time we hired Zohar and his people to do remodeling and construction work for us. Last spring he remodeled our master and guest bathrooms and did a great job. This time, the job was much bigger. Zohar worked with us to architect a new kitchen. He is very creative and has seen just about every kind of kitchen, so he gave us a wonderful way to change our kitchen and to open it to our den. He did computer renderings to give us a visual view of his ideas. Sofia, who runs the office, was a wonderful help. She did all of the ordering and scheduling, and even took time on a Saturday to help us shop for counter top granite and back splash tile designs. We were new at it, and her help was greatly appreciated. We ended up with a beautiful new home and an amazing kitchen that my wife and I both love. Zohar is a man of his word, and takes his reputation seriously. Whenever there was an issue, during the long and complex construction period, he had it corrected promptly, and if it was an error on his part, he had it fixed at his own expense. As the job progressed, we did expand the scope in several areas. Zohar and Sofia worked with us and provided us with delta quotes for the extra work. We are thrilled with the end product and the quality of the work that he and his team did. My kudos to Zohar, Sofia, Ruven (foreman), and Nelson who did most of the drywall and painting. I highly recommend Best Builder's Group for any remodeling needs you might have."

"Lalo is awesome. He is always on time (usually early) and does a great job. This report is for the most recent work of painting three bathrooms, but he also has done extensive drywall repairs when I was remodeling my kitchen, and minor framing work (new doorway). I highly recommend Lalo because he is friendly, listens to what you want, and then actually does it. What a concept."

"Overall great job.  Answered my questions about up-charges beyond standard colors before purchase.  They made an appointment after we purchased the deal and came out and confirmed size and color (which ended up being a really close match to the rest of the house).  They then came back and Installed a new granite countertop and back splash in our office.  They were very conscientious about our back wall not being completely straight and asked about it before installing the back splash.  Job looks great and really finished off the new cabinets in our office.

"Very Well. hit a few snags as many projects do but the sign of a good contractor is how they respond and fix the issues. Tom is a great guy to work with and was always available to contact. The pricing schedule was fair and very well laid out. 1100 sqf house and 400 sqf garage. Both single gable. Eaves also replaced on garage."

"We obtained estimates and formulated plans with many different contractors/companies to upgrade our very outdated and non-functional 1960’s kitchen. We almost gave up but then we met Danny Gold from the Encino office of Goodfellas Construction. In our initial meeting with Danny he was able to quickly understand our goals, offer solutions, explain in detail “how” tasks would be performed and “why” they needed to be done in a particular manner. In addition to patiently answering our multitude of questions, Danny offered a great deal more information in our meetings and it was quite clear he had our interests and budget as a priority. He has a delightful personality and he gained our trust by being accessible, promptly scheduling the work, quickly addressing issues and being very customer service oriented. His showroom suggestions helped a great deal when we were selecting materials. We started with the kitchen but as we quickly became comfortable with the quality of the work we added other rooms that were in need of repair and updating. Our project turned out to be fairly large, as it ultimately became a kitchen, dining room and powder room upgrade. Daniel was assigned as our project coordinator. He has a keen eye for detail and was responsible for tying up any loose ends and keeping things moving. With the multiple trades involved we were assigned a general contractor, Amir, who expertly choreographed the various tradesmen in order to minimize downtime as much as possible. We were inundated with workers handling, demo, electricity, plumbing, flooring, drywall and painting, cabinets, countertops, etc. but either Daniel, Amir, or both came almost daily to check on the progress of the various teams, address any issues and answer any questions we had. We have an older house and even though the Goodfellas teams are good at what they do, we learned the hard way that unexpected events are not always created for television ratings! During the process we discovered that our foundation was sinking and unstable due to years of water erosion under the house. Fortunately the timing of the kitchen demo was a blessing in that the foundation was accessible for the repairs. Although pretty much unavoidable, it was exasperating to have so many things in progress simultaneously. However, Danny brought in an expert foundation foreman, Shaul, and his team who worked with our general contractor and project coordinator to expedite the necessary repairs to properly secure our foundation, all the while making sure we were pleased with the work that was done. It would be foolish to embark upon a remodeling endeavor and expect that there would be no issues. Some of our plans required adjustments and creative solutions. Some of the work created a need for additional repairs by other tradesmen. With so many people involved, communication between the various independent tradesmen sometimes became challenging especially when the detailed work of one trade affected another. For these reasons, and to coordinate our portion of the project, we found it very important to be involved throughout the process. No matter what the issues, the best part about working with Danny, Daniel, Amir and the entire Goodfellas team has been their responsiveness and willingness to address everything patiently, professionally, and with a sense of humor that has been very much appreciated. Their mission has been our satisfaction and their work (as well as their work ethic) has reflected that mission."

"We didn't end up using DryMaster and ended up using a company that my in-laws had used previously. However, if I hadn't had that referral, I would have definitely went with DryMaster.
We were desperate and wanted the mold cleaned up ASAP. DryMaster's office manager was always on top of things and very communicative. She was able to fit Luis into our schedule the same day I called and Luis actually ended up coming after hours when we were back home from work. He was very professional, courteous, and good about following up the following days. I appreciated that he stayed calm and never tried to scare us in big repairs.

Drywall questions, answered by experts

There are six levels of drywall finish, from 0 to 5, that refer to the amount of work performed during the finishing process.

Level 0: Drywall is hung with no finishing work.

Level 1: Tape is placed over the seams between drywall sheets.

Level 2: A thin layer of mud is applied over the tape and screw holes. This level is common for utility rooms or walls that will be covered.

Level 3: A full coat of mud covers the screw holes and tape, but the surface is not sanded. This is often used in garages.

Level 4: This is the most common finish for visible interior walls. It involves applying two coats of mud over seams and screw holes, with sanding between each coat, creating a smooth surface ready for flat paint.

Level 5: This is a high-end finish for luxury homes. It includes full taping, mudding, and sanding, plus a final skim coat over the entire surface before painting.

There shouldn’t be any gaps between your walls and ceiling. These can be fixed with joint compound but that is only a fix, and it’s much better if your drywall fits correctly in the first place. Sometimes gaps can appear if your foundation shifts significantly but if this is the case, you have a much bigger problem than patching drywall.

You should stagger drywall sheets to help prevent cracking. The joints between drywall sheets are the weak spots, so if you install drywall with seams aligned, you’ll create weak lines that run across the length of the wall and extend from floor to ceiling. But when you stagger drywall, the solid sections of panels will support the joints. This can prevent seams from cracking or separating due to fluctuating temperature and humidity, vibrations from movement inside the home, and gravity.

Both plaster and drywall are durable wall finishes, but they differ significantly in installation, cost, performance, and aesthetics.

Installation & Cost: Drywall installation is faster and more affordable, typically costing $1.50 to $3 per square foot. It uses premade sheets, making it a more accessible DIY project. Plastering is a labor-intensive craft that requires specialized skills, pushing costs to $2 to $10 per square foot. It involves applying a wet paste over a lath framework.

Durability & Performance: Plaster is generally more durable, longer-lasting, and provides superior soundproofing. It is also a better insulator, which can help reduce energy costs. Drywall is easier to remove for future renovations.

Aesthetics: Drywall provides a smooth, uniform surface ready for paint or texture. Plaster offers a high-end, naturally textured look that can hide imperfections and is often preferred for achieving a classic or historic aesthetic.

Which is better? The choice depends on your priorities. Drywall is ideal for those prioritizing a lower upfront cost, faster installation, and DIY potential. Plaster is the better option for a higher-end project where durability, soundproofing, and a unique, premium finish are more important than the initial cost.
