"EG Tile and Stone was Exceptionally Professional, very thorough at analyzing a tricky problem from an upstairs shower leak; they were courteous, very prompt and on time for work every day, reasonable pricing, and dependable. Most importantly, they fixed a problem that another contractor could not resolve and the work was above our expectations. I highly recommend them and will be using them again for another project."

"The appointment process was painless. I scheduled it online and received reminders of my appointment time. The salesman was very prompt (within 15 minutes of the beginning appt time window). We talked about what I was looking for and he brought in about 8 samples to choose from. I hadn't even realized that a berber was in my budget, but it was what I ended up selecting.
He offered my choice of appointment dates starting the next day, but I ended up purchasing on Friday and installing on Monday morning. 2 installers spent most of the day, and were very professional. The carpet looks great. I would definitely consider using them again.

"Gabriel has been doing beautiful tile work in our homes for over 12 years. Recently he and his crew completely gutted our bathroom and transformed it with floor to ceiling tile. He takes care to make sure the walls and ceiling are square so that tile meets at 90 degree angles. He also advised on tile, grout and style. They installed the tub, toilet and sink to ensure that their placement coordinated with the tile. Before that he tiled the backsplash in our kitchen which made a huge difference and is the first thing everyone comments about. Going back even further when we lived in a 2 1/2 story condo where he re-tiled the entire condo (including renovating the downstairs bathroom) and created an intricate glass brick wall between the mezzanine and the living room as well as the backsplash in the kitchen. We highly recommend Gabriel. We trust him with our home. He always comes up with great ideas and creative solutions for the house. He's extremely conscientious from the time he shows up to the time he leaves. He always lays out cloths and walking paths in the house and cleans up every night. And truly, he has an artist’s eye and has turned our homes into places we can be proud of."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

On average, tiling a shower costs between $1,800 and $5,000, with most people paying around $2,700. The price of this project depends on multiple factors, including the kind of tile you choose, the size of your shower, and labor rates in your area. If you decide to tile your own shower (instead of hiring a professional), it’ll likely cost $800 to $1,400.

Porcelain is a relatively affordable, mid-range countertop material. It typically costs between $50 to $70 per square foot.

Compared to quartz, porcelain is slightly more affordable, as quartz generally ranges from $50 to $200 per square foot. However, lower-quality, builder's grade quartz can be similar in price to porcelain.

Compared to granite, the price can be similar, depending on the quality of the stone. While granite slabs can range from $50 to $200 per square foot, you can find lower-end granite in the same price range as porcelain. High-end granites will cost significantly more.

Porcelain is generally more expensive than laminate, acrylic, and ceramic, but less expensive than high-end slate, concrete, and marble. A key benefit is that porcelain does not require sealing, which reduces long-term maintenance costs.

Silicone caulk shouldn’t be used in place of grout because each material serves its own purpose. Thanks to its flexibility, silicone caulk is good for sealing around the perimeter of tiled floors, where movement and expansion might occur. However, grout is more durable, making it a better option for the joints in between tiles, which need to withstand constant weight and foot traffic.

It’s best to install a shower door after the bathroom tile is in place to ensure you have accurate measurements. If you try installing a shower door first, the tile might be too thick to install afterward, or the tile will be too thin and create a gap between the shower doors that allows water to leak. With the tile in place first, you’ll know the exact shower door size that you need.

Deciding between using a shower pan or tile will likely come down to the shower’s design. You can learn how to install a shower pan liner, but it has a standard look similar to most other showers, though there is some flexibility for material and color choices. Tile, on the other hand, can be customized and is set directly into the shower base. However, a shower tile floor is more difficult to install than a shower pan.
