"A highly proficient, well co-ordinated five-man crew transformed what initially appeared as a scraggly mass of leaves atop a couple tree trunks into a picturesque setting where a beautiful high arch of light now separates two two picture-perfect oak tree canopies. The business owner is an arborist and two of the crew members are aspiring arborists. I believe that expertise is apparent in the work they all did.to to complete a well-done professional job."

"Albert Mares and his crew did an excellent job. We plan to hire them again to take care of our trees. They are very knowledgable and courteous. The prices for the job are fair. They were careful on the job and did an excellent clean up.We hired this company to trim a large, old tree. It was a difficult job because the limbs of the tree were long and care was needed to remove them. They also removed a palm tree. We highly recommend them."

"Great company, my tree was leaning over my house from on top of a hill. They did an amazing job removing the tree and keeping my home safe. And they really care about helping veterans. I’ll use them for all of my projects."

"These guys were great. They stacked all the wood neatly and out of the way. And cleaned up the area before they left. Their quote was almost half that of other arborists."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

You can find pruning paints and sealants for trees, but you shouldn’t use them on a topped tree. Coatings like these often inhibit the tree’s healing process. An important exception is if there are dangerous fungi nearby that the tree is particularly vulnerable to, like oaks and oak wilt. Sealing cuts can help prevent fungi from taking root.

Yes, cutting a tree's roots can cause it to fall, particularly if major support roots are severed. In extreme cases, trimming roots can affect the tree's structure and stability. Many crucial roots are located just below the soil's surface. If you make severe cuts to roots more than 2 inches in diameter, you risk impacting the tree's water flow and its ability to withstand severe winds or storms. Even cutting roots less than half an inch in diameter under or outside the tree's canopy can cut off its water supply, causing it to decline, die, and eventually topple.

Pruning trees during the summer can be a bad idea because the new growth will take place during the hottest months of the year, which can stress your tree out. Similarly, pruning during the early fall can be a bad idea, too, because you’d be stimulating new growth when most trees are aiming to go dormant.

Pruning recommendations will vary by the type of tree, but generally, waiting until winter to prune your trees is a good idea.

If executed correctly your tree should survive after being transplanted to a new spot. However, effective transplanting requires six months, careful root pruning, safe transport to the new location, and replanting in prime soil conditions. You’ll also need an appropriately sized root ball for a complete tree transplant. A good rule of thumb is that, for every inch in diameter, your tree’s root ball needs to be around 11 inches. So a tree with a diameter of six inches needs a root ball of approximately 66 inches.

Dying trees and even dead trees can spread diseases to other living trees. There are many different types of tree diseases, so it’s essential to address the issue as soon as possible to prevent the disease from spreading to other healthy trees. If the tree cannot be saved and is infected, you need to have it removed to protect the other trees on your property.
