"I purchased this work as one of an Angie's List Big Deal ($149 for $300 of work).  Luis Lara came to our house to give us an estimate for the job which was $850 (less the $300 credit to make it $550 due on completion).  It seems like a fair price given that it took four men four hours each plus the equipment and expertise.  Sixteen man hours calculates out to $53 per hour.  Both Luis at the estimate visit and the crew on the work day were professional and thorough.  We are quite happy with Lara Concrete.

The work was originally scheduled for March 6 but the crew was held up on another job so delayed ours for two days - not a problem for us.  The crew of four men arrived promptly at 8:00 and finished the work by noon.  They did an exceptional job with concrete saws and jack hammers.  They removed all the debris and left the site ready for the next phase.  One thing they did not do was to wipe clean the splatter from the side of the house, windows and door next to where the cuts were made."

This process is a cost-effective alternative to completely replacing the concrete, as it uses significantly less material than pouring a new 4-inch slab. Resurfacing also provides an opportunity to add new colors or stamped textures. Other names for this process include concrete restoration, concrete refinishing, and concrete rejuvenation.

For thin driveway cracks that aren’t widening or lengthening, a polyurethane crack filler is usually the best way to seal the crack and prevent further damage from water and ice. If you have cracks that are more than ⅛-inch wide or driveway cracks that continue to grow, you should call in a professional driveway repair company to fix underlying problems—like insufficient support from the soil underneath—before filling in the cracks. An epoxy sealant is a better option for wider cracks after the surface is leveled and the underlying problem is fixed.

You have different options depending on the scale of repair needed. If you are repairing minor cracks that are between ¼ inch to 1.5 inch wide and less than half an inch deep, a self-leveling polyurethane sealant would be your best choice. However, if the concrete has significant damage—such as deep cracks, peeling, sinking, or is broken up—resurfacing may not be worth it. The new overlay is only as good as the concrete beneath it, and existing problems like peeling and cracks are likely to show through the new surface. In situations with severe damage, replacing the entire slab is often more cost-effective in the long run and will yield a better result.
