"We hired Walter to come and clean our three to your fountain. It was overgrown with green water and algae, and the pump was not working correctly. Walter was very enthusiastic about the project and was very knowledgeable on the phone during our original conversation, asking good questions to lead him in the right direction to better help us. He was neat clean and also when we came out to see how it was going he was quick to acknowledge us and inform us of what’s going on. Walter is a very upbeat person and has great work ethic with our fountain."

"Nick responded within a couple hours to my phone message.  I had two toilets that needed the insides replaced and one that needed the tank bolts replaced as well.  He came the next morning, checked things out and also suggested that I replace the water valve due to its age.  He purchased everything that was needed to service both toilets, as I checked out how to turn the water off.  In less than two hours he had the parts purchased and everything installed. He is pleasant and very helpful. I'll definitely use his services again!"

"I was astonished at the transformation. Roderigo is an artisan. He transformed a 60 year old 1300 sq ft 2 bedroom , 2 bathroom OLD condo into a stunning condo. His attention to detail, experience and knowhow and his familiarity with products and procedures were so helpful. I relied on his advice as to materials, products and processes. Besides his expertise, experience and skill, Rodrigo has another quality that SHINES: his integrity. And he has a pleasant demanor that makes working with him a positive experience…and a joy!"

Aquarium Services questions, answered by experts

If your leach field becomes clogged or saturated, it can cause several problems with your home's septic system. The clog can cause sewage to back up into your home, leading to unpleasant odors and mess. A backed-up septic system can be a health hazard, particularly if the sewage starts to leach into the ground surrounding the leach field.

There are several ways to fix a saturated drain field, including cleaning out your septic tank, adding enzymes and additives to your drain system, and installing a larger septic system.

There are three layers of wastewater in a septic tank: scum (solid waste that floats to the top of the wastewater), liquid (the relatively clean liquid wastewater in between the two other layers), and sludge (solid waste that falls to the bottom of the wastewater). The buildup of sludge is one of the main reasons septic tanks need to be pumped. If the tank is more than 1/3 of the way full with a combination of sludge and scum, it’s time to call a pro for pumping.

No. You should never empty a septic tank yourself because it involves working with specialized equipment (that you probably don’t have) and puts you at risk of breathing in toxic fumes. Plus, once you’ve removed the waste, you’ll need to transport it and dispose of it safely. Instead, call an expert for this job. On average, hiring a pro to pump a septic tank costs $550.

Plumbing leaks, roof failures, poor drainage systems, and severe weather events that lead to flooding or inundation are common causes of water accumulation.

Baking soda can help neutralize septic tank odors. If the pH balance in your tank is off, it may emit a sulfurous, rotten-egg-like smell. Flushing about one cup of baking soda down the toilet once a week can help neutralize the odor. To increase the beneficial bacteria in your tank, you can add three rotten tomatoes through your garbage disposal every three months.

To prevent odors in the first place, only flush human waste and toilet paper. Avoid pouring coffee grounds, fats, oils, or grease down your drains, as this can lead to clogs. While these methods can help, the most effective long-term solution is to have your septic tank pumped regularly, typically every three to five years. Because sewage gas can be toxic, it is recommended to hire a professional to identify the source of the smell rather than only trying to neutralize it.
