Customers say: Super punctual

"I hired Dane Westby of Westby4Homes to complete my laundry room tile installation. I’ve done many projects in my home and have not always had a good experience with communication from various contractors I hired. I was so impressed with how fast Dane got back to me. He also showed up when he said he would. His price was in the middle of the quotes I received. I just had a good feeling about him. Dane even picked up the tile I chose for the project in Anaheim. That saved me a trip lifting heavy tile boxes into my car. Yay! The job was done quickly and without any problems. The two tile workers who came out were very pleasant and respectful as well. The only issue was with presenting a clear copy of my paid invoice for my records and for my HOA. I feel contractors should automatically give the homeowner a signed copy clearly stating the scope of the work done. I did finally get a copy so I’m happy. Thanks Dane! I would definitely hire Westby4Homes again in the future!"

Small jobs welcome

"Oleg from Smile Tile was a fabulous find! Not only did he do a beautiful job installing my backsplash, he took his time to cut out the odd shaped tiles and make everything flow so that you did not see the squares the tiles were in. He is definitely a perfectionist, kind and professional. I highly recommend Oleg and would definitely use him again."

Customers say: True professional

"Outstanding! I HIGHLY recommend this company. Mark is super knowledgeable and really listened to what I was looking for. He had me meet him at his shop and we picked out a bunch of samples together. Then he brought all of the samples to our house. He gave us a fantastic price and his installers did an amazing job. They also installed new baseboards. He can also do crown molding! If you are looking for new floors call Mark! Amazing."

"Ronald knows his Trade well, is prompt, professional, and communicates well. He installed a very intricate 1 inch multicolored glass tile backsplash in our kitchen. We purchased the tile at Lowe’s. Unknown to us there were reviews stating this pattern was very random. When Ronald returned the next day to apply the grout he changed up some of the colored tiles to make it look appealing. It’s a nice upgrade for our kitchen and it looks like it has always been there."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, construction materials like tile, lumber, drywall, and hardware can be disposed of in a dumpster, just not in your regular garbage. As you’re planning your project, just make sure to rent the correct size of dumpster based on the scope of your needs and be aware of weight limits. Tile weighs a lot (along with other construction materials), and your costs could increase if you exceed the weight limit in your contract with the dumpster provider.

How long painted tiles last ultimately comes down to the quality of the paint job and how much wear and tear the tiles get. It’s possible the paint job will only last about six months if the tiles are in a high-traffic area and they weren’t properly cleaned, sanded, and primed prior to painting and sealing. Well-painted tiles in a low-traffic area should last at least a year.

Tile countertops can be an excellent and budget-friendly option for a kitchen, provided they are installed correctly. It's important to choose tiles, such as ceramic, that are heat-, water-, and scratch-resistant. When the grout is properly sealed, it will resist stains, making the surface easy to clean. Tile is also considered a sustainable material. For a cohesive kitchen design and added protection, you can pair a tile countertop with a matching tile backsplash.

Grout lines should typically be between 1/8 to 3/16 inch thick. This ensures enough room for the grout to dry properly and makes them wide enough to look clean and professional. If grout lines are too small, it can be easier to see imperfections in the spacing.

When choosing tiles for a shower floor, avoid highly porous tile materials, like those with a water absorption rating over 7%. Don’t use non-vitreous tiles, or tiles fired at low temperatures, because they will absorb more water. If you use a highly porous tile in the shower, the tiles can wear down faster, meaning they’ll need to be replaced much sooner.
