"Kyle and his team were very professional and easy to work with. He was able to explain changes that needed to be made and always delivered on promised schedules. Additionally, he proactively helped serve as almost a project manager to follow-up with my other contractors and architects, ensuring plans were submitted to the city on time. I did not know all of the dependencies between the different teams, and Kyle took the initiative to get everyone on the same page and follow through even though technically he was brought on as a secondary contractor. I really appreciated this."

"Very Professional and easy to work with. Carolyn is both extremely creative and efficient. She provided us with excellent ongoing information about the project's progress and costs. She spent a huge amount of time on the initial proposal and the result of that was that we entered into the work phase feeling confident about the success of the outcome. She did a great job of incorporating in the pieces of art and furniture that we wanted to keep. We would definitely work with Carolyn again."

"I am 100% satisfied with the immaculate work done by Francisco and his team. He was reliable, organized, professional and left the site clean. He also was a good communocator; provided good consultation with me on diverse concerns I had with my landscape plant selection, placement, tree trimming, soil preparation, fertilization, sprinkler snafus, and lighting issues."

"We hired McCormick Home Builders to remodel our living room, and we are beyond pleased with the result. The team was professional, worked efficiently, and Aris design ideas made a huge difference. The room feels so much brighter and more spacious. This was the best decision we made for our home, and we were already planning our next remodel with them."

Architects questions, answered by experts

A home elevator is a fantastic way to improve your home’s accessibility. Elevators allow anyone, even those who use wheelchairs or walkers, to safely move between floors within your home.

Dumbwaiters may allow you to move items up and down floors, and stair lifts can move people up and down, but elevators are the best option if you need space for people, their belongings, and/or mobility aids such as wheelchairs.

That said, home elevators cost more than other options, such as stair lifts. Consider your needs and your budget when deciding the best way to make your home more accessible to a person with a disability or a person who is aging in place.

Palm Springs homes and similar mid-century modern architecture took off in Northern California, Seattle, and the Midwest. You'll also find many homes that emulate the style in northeastern states, such as throughout Pennsylvania and New York State. That being said, you'll have the best luck finding this style in its original home: Palm Springs and the surrounding area.

A floor plan is a less detailed illustration showing a building or room's layout from above, including elements like windows, doors, walls, and fixtures. It offers a simplified view for homeowners. In contrast, a blueprint is a more detailed, to-scale architectural drawing that includes all parts of the building plans, such as structural elements, construction details, and utility schematics. While a floor plan can be a type of view within a blueprint, the complete blueprint contains all the necessary details to turn the plan into a reality.

It is technically possible to draw your own blueprints, but the process is extremely involved and really demands help from an expert. A professional architect has an understanding of design elements, interior design, the functionality of different rooms in a home, and how everything from furniture, outlets, and light switches should be laid out to serve you and your family best. Hiring an architect for blueprints can get expensive, but it’s the most responsible way to begin a new construction project. If you’re keen on DIYing, you could consider starting the process and then having a professional take over.

The primary reason homes have crawl spaces is so the foundation can reach down below the frost line to avoid dangerous soil movement and structural damage when the ground freezes. They’re more popular in colder climates where the ground freezes down to a few feet, and slabs are most popular in warmer areas where there is no frost line. Crawl spaces also provide a space for utility lines to run where they’re at less of a risk of freezing.
