Design X Architects

I recently worked with Design X Architects on a tenant improvement (TI) project. We encountered several difficulties with the city that required design changes that I did not want to make. Design X was able to fight for what I wanted and get it through as is. They have a deep understanding of city codes and zoning, which enabled them to argue back to the city and make our vision a reality. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for an architect.

Working with Jonathan at Design X Architects was the best decision my family made. While small, our project brought with it certain complexities which were addressed skillfully and professionally. A major objective of the assignment was to clear City Plan Check with few corrections. The plans submitted accomplished that intent, as no plan check corrections were imposed and the plans were approved based on the initial submittal. Jonathan was clear in his communication and delivered exactly what he said he would do â always on or ahead of schedule. Speaking as an Architect myself, I would entrust a project of any size to this firm.

My wife and I were very anxious about doing a room addition. Jonathan was highly recommended by our building contractor and he just what we needed. He was great at helping us feel comfortable that we were in the right hands. He took our worry away when he told us he was aware of Laguna Beach requirements. He also gave of great ideas for the project which added greatly to the final product. All Architectural Drawings were completed when promised and accepted by the city. We highly recommend Jonathan and would use him again.

We weren't originally going to have someone draw up plans, but after struggling with the permit process in providing the necessary information and drawings we decided to reach out for some help. We found Jonathan through this site and he was very responsive in early communications. We reviewed several architects and he was by far the most prepared and thorough in providing us a quote. In addition to creating a professional set of plans for us, the most helpful part was working with the city to get our permit, which was a major headache when trying to do it myself previously.

Jonathan was great! He was efficient and thorough, easy to work with, and helpful at each step of my ADU project. I have never hired an architect before and Jonathan was completely open to my questions and suggestions. I never felt dumb for asking a question I was unsure of or that Jonathan wasn't taking into consideration the things I was suggesting from a design standpoint. I would say he is a customer-centric architect. He did what he said he would do when he said he would do it. He was always prompt in his responses and clear in what to expect next. Jonathan was great. Not only did he prepare a wonderful design for us, he was very accommodating to our wishes and was always very responsive to any of our questions or concerns. Most of the time we received a response in an hour or two! We would give him and his firm six stars if we could! We have used many professionals over the years but Jonathan is the best! Jonathan Ma was great to work with. He was responsive, available to answer any questions via text, phone or email, and gave us good insight into the project scope. He would immediately respond to any inquiry, which I feel is extremely important. He provided us with design options on our home renovation project and gave us the pros and cons of each. There were some small issues/oversights that I noticed on the plans, based on my background in engineering that were quickly addressed and fixed. The only thing I would suggest to Design X Architects is to make sure plans are reviewed by in house drafters so that once they are sent to customers that are non-technical, the small oversights would get picked up and corrected before city submission. I highly recommend Design X Architects because of Jonathan's constant communication with me as a client and dedication to his work.

Jonathan was very great to work with. He was very reliable and honest. I am building an ADU (Accessible Dwelling Unit), and the plans he had drawn up were very easy to understand. The City of Corona also liked the plans and were impressed by them. Jonathan is very professional and I will use him again for my other housing projects.

I interviewed at least 8 candidates for my project. I chose Jonathan because I gave me impressions of trustworthy and very capable and someone I felt I could work with. Our project was to extend our kitchen and family room into our backyard. I wanted to have open space without any posts in the middle to support our second floor. Jonathan and his engineer came up with the solution with reasonable cost. We did not need any steel beam. He produced high quality work. I presented his plan to at least 11 GC for bidding the project. I did not recall even one negative feedback. They were all positive. They said the drawing was professional, very detailed and very clear. Our first city submittal came back with very few corrections and it was approved after the resubmit. I am very happy with his works and I would recommend him to anyone.

I worked with Architect Jonathan Ma. He is very nice, prompt and replies to all my messages/phone calls. His plan got approved in first submittal with very small correction. I will give 6 *s out of 5. Highly recommend.
