"Marble & Granite Masters did a great job installing our quartz kitchen countertops. Chris was perfect with the measurements and patient with us in making a final decision between 2 styles in the showroom. In-home and in the showroom, all COVID precautions were taken, so no worries there. Slab was fabricated even faster than estimated and installed a week later. On budget and ahead of schedule!! Loving our new countertops, would definitely recommend MGM!!"

"Martin and his team were a joy to work with on our new kitchen counters. Martin walked us through choosing our stone and explained the fabrication process and within days we are now sitting at our new counters enjoying our morning coffee. Check out the attached pictures. Great overall experience 10 stars! Thanks again Martin and Jose!!"

"We had a great experience with this company on our ADU build. They were professional, easy to communicate with, and guided us through the entire process from permits to final inspection. The crew did solid, high-quality work and kept everything on schedule. The ADU turned out exactly how we hoped, and we?re really happy with the result. Would definitely recommend them to anyone considering an ADU project!"

"This is the best value for money we have gotten from a contractor in some time now and it is very satisfying. We presented a very detailed plan for our kitchen, bathroom, and a couple of rooms and they executed it to perfection. No mistakes, no excuses, no ********. Just full-time commitment to delivering a remarkable project. Eco Home Builders is the only contractor I want to work with from now on."

Countertops and Backsplashes questions, answered by experts

Laminate countertops are affordable, durable, and available in various styles and colors.

Epoxy is typically more affordable than granite, especially if you’re choosing a high-end slab. Most granite countertops cost $75 to $145 per square foot to install, with high-end varieties topping $185 per square foot.

In contrast, epoxy countertops cost $50 to $150 per square foot to install. The material costs for epoxy are significantly lower than granite, but installation costs can be higher. Rather than simply cutting granite countertops to size before installation, your contractor will need to carefully pour the epoxy over an existing surface.

The least porous countertop material is engineered quartz. Made from a blend of natural quartz and resins, it is non-porous and highly resistant to stains, scratches, and bacteria. This makes quartz countertops exceptionally low-maintenance and durable, ideal for kitchens and bathrooms where hygiene and easy upkeep are priorities. Other non-porous options include solid surface materials like Corian, which also offer excellent resistance to moisture and stains.

Marble countertops don’t necessarily crack easily. However, they are more susceptible to damage than some other types of countertops. For example, they can develop etching from acidic liquids, such as lemon or tomato juice. Marble can also chip at the edges if you drop a heavy pan. A faux marble countertop isn’t as delicate as the real deal (depending on the material you’re painting over), but it can still get scratched if you’re not careful. Use hot pads and cutting boards to protect the countertop.

You don’t need a cutting board. In fact, cutting is the original purpose of butcher block countertops. That said, wood is porous and can harbor germs. You’ll need to clean your countertop thoroughly after use. Knives can also scratch the surface. This adds to the patina of the wood, but not everyone likes the look—in which case, you may want to use a cutting board.
