I initially met with Oscar to discuss reroofing my residence due to numerous leaks incurred over the last several years. Over this time, I had two skylights removed at a low part of the roof near a scupper drain. Numerous attempts were made to fix the problem with the skylights intact, but they continued to reoccur. I had contacted five roofing companies for estimates and Oscar was indeed the most thorough and knowledgeable. He spent a good deal of time practically redesigning my flat roof to incorporate crickets (high areas) in order to rapidly shed water and not create ponding after a rain. The plans also included reinstalling new skylights where the original ones had been removed. His reengineering of the roof was quite impressive in that he drew a detailed diagram in order for the actual project to be completed properly.
A crew of six men arrived on the scheduled day promptly removing the old roofing material and redesigning various pitch in the problem areas. I was very impressed at the way the roofers (master carpenters) were able to build solid structures conforming to Oscar's original plans. They even built wooden curbs ten inches above the roof surface in insure the new skylights would clearly be out of the way of further water incursion.
Once the basic structure was developed, the hot tar and fiberglass covering was applied. During this phase of the project, Oscar incorporated some upgrades such as roof vents at no additional cost. At this point, seeing how well things were progressing, I asked if they could retile the patio which was promptly started. And again, they were able to redesign the drip edge in a manner that was not only functional, but more visually pleasing. Everything was completed to a more than satisfactory level, including attention to detail and cleaning the entire job site both during and the end of construction.
I was not able to stay and see the final stage of applying two coats of white cool coat that where to be completed the following week once the roof had cured. I was assured that the roof would be washed off with water and a first and second coat of the cool coat would be applied on consecutive days.
I would highly recommend this company to anyone seeking quality work and craftsmanship.

They were supposed to come back or I was going to call them back. They cut a hole in the ceiling to get access to the attic. I think that's all they did. They did a good job as far as cutting out access to the attic. The cutout is easily removed. He did a good job all around because I don't know how he found a place to cut it so that when you cut it out you wouldn't be getting a 2 x 4. He seemed to know where exactly to cut it out in the closet. I haven't used this provider before. I remember that he told me the cost of doing the attic fan. He just tiled straight over the cardboard backing instead and also tiled over PRESS BOARD, which WILL swell with moisture over time, and also did not use concrete Hardibacker Board, which is placed down to stablize the floor. I didn't know that was not the proper way to install the tile at the time, but from what I know now, he should have KNOWN it was not proper installation. He said his workers were subcontractors, and if Tony didn't know what the proper installation is, his subcontractors should have known. At this point, I'd like to see proof that his workers were subcontractors.
When I later spoke with another tile contractor regarding other tile work that needed to be done in my house and inquired about his process of installation, he advised me that Roseville Construction did not install the tile correctly, as the tile should have never been installed over the lino cardboard, over the press board subfloor, and that Hardibacker board should have been installed to stablize the installation. The second contractor offered to do the work for $775, but later backed out when he asked me how much I paid to have the work done originally. I guess he felt his bid of $775 was too low to redo the shoddy job that Roseville Construction did for over $1400.
I talked with the Ceramic Tile Institute, and they told me that it was indeed a faulty tile installation. They said that it's never proper to install tile over press board, EVEN if there is Haribacker concrete board installed, as the material is porous and is "dimensionally unstable." Roseville Construction made what seems like THREE willful mistakes: They did not remove the cardboard backing of the linoleum; they did not remove the press board, and they did not install Hardibacker board. At this point I'm ready to attach his bond unless he ensures that the work redone by a competent contractor. I do not trust him at all at this point, as I don't find him to be honest or honorable.
If a person is honorable, if they make a mistake -- willful or otherwise -- and do everything possible to make it right. I have not been made whole because the floor is still not installed properly and is subject to cracking over time, and no one will redo it for $775. My guess is that Tony jumped at the chance to have someone else clean up the problem he created for HALF THE PRICE, which obviously, it will cost more than the original price he charged me because the tile has to be ripped out.
Roseville Construction also did not put transition strips in, and the grout started to come out of the cracks immediately. They also did not properly tile fully under the stove, as he only tiled the area that was visible which would be inconsistent if the kitchen was remodeled in the future. I felt it was just a shoddy job overall. He just seems interested in getting the money and moving on as quickly as he can, not in doing careful, quality work. Bad ethics, in my opinion.
I followed up with them to ask if I could just return the $775 back that Tony Elliot, the owner, gave me, and have them redo the work correctly because the second tile contractor that was going to redo the tile was no longer willing to redo the tile for the low price he originally quoted. I even offered that if Roseville Construction's workers did the job correctly, that I would consider having them do the laundry room and back bedroom as well. Tony Elliot did not respond to my emails, voicemails or texts after multiple attempts over two weeks, until I filed a complaint with Angie's List. He responded very quickly after I filed my complaint and said that he was on vacation, which I question because of the way he's treated me.
The issue is not resolved to my satisfaction. I cannot tell you how many times, as a single female, that contractors have done poor-quality work because they assume I'll never know the difference. I signed up with Angie's List hoping to avoid another situation where I get poor work for a fair price, but unfortunately it has happened again. This time I'm filing a claim against his bond if the floor is not redone to my satisfaction.

Since I had a number of other tasks to accomplish I decided to hire the job done. I searched through Angie's list and based on the overwhelming positive feedback I went with Quality Carpet Cleaners in my area. The person I spoke with on phone was very helpful and I was able to schedule the work to fit in with my schedule. The technician that came to my home examined the job and let me know for an extra $50 fee he would be able to treat the spot stains and I decided it was worth the extra fee. We walked through the job and he took note of my requests. I asked him to do an extra rinse with just warm water to be sure to remove as much cleaning solution as possible, and to also remove as much moisture as possible. I was told that the carpets should be dry by that evening. By the next morning, the carpets were still wet and a few spots returned. As I mentioned before I normally clean my own carpets so I own a carpet cleaner and was able to use the machine to extract more moisture from the carpets and go over the spots again, it only took me and additional 30 minutes. I received a call that evening from the company to ask for any feedback and also received a letter in the mail from the Company and did call and speak to a representative about concerns I mentioned above. He was appreciative of my feedback and assured me they will come out and correct any issued I have. I mentioned I already took care of the problems and thanked him again. I suppose the service accomplished the majority of the issues, but I will probably do it myself in the future, unless there is something significant. "ALR Painting did such a fantastic job. My home was built in 1908 and the original paint was chipping away and old. Alex was able to match the exact color of the house and went above and beyond my expectations. I was particularly impressed with the care he took in prepping the home prior to painting- scraping, sanding, and caulking. The paint job wasn’t easy. Alex definitely takes pride in his work and he managed to complete the project much faster than I expected. My house looks AMAZING! I could not be happier with my experience and I highly recommend ALR Painting to others."

FAQs for wallpaper removal projects in Grass Valley, CA
Hiring a professional wallpaper remover is almost always worthwhile. Although the work is more expensive due to labor costs, doing it yourself is extremely time-consuming, complicated, and easy to make mistakes and wreak havoc on your walls, regardless of the tools you use. Professional wallpaper removers have the tools and experience to get old wallpaper down quickly and without damaging the walls behind it.
Removing wallpaper can be easy if you have a non-coated wallpaper, but most homeowners have vinyl-coated wallpaper, which is more durable but tears very easily during the removal process. This feature makes it challenging and time-consuming to remove most wallpaper. There are tools to speed up the process, like steamers, but, unfortunately, it’s easy to permanently damage your walls when using them. In most cases, it’s best to hire a professional wallpaper remover to get the job done quickly and without damaging your home.
In most cases, you cannot wallpaper over existing wallpaper. It’s possible to wallpaper over non-coated wallpaper, but vinyl-coated wallpaper is much more prevalent in homes, so you generally shouldn’t put new wallpaper over existing wallpaper. Adding a layer of wallpaper over vinyl-coated paper will lead to poor adhesion, leaving behind bubbles and imperfections in your wall. Plus, wallpapering over vinyl-coated wallpaper can lead to mold growth, which can be hazardous to your health. It’s usually best to hire a local wallpaper removal service to handle the task to avoid these issues.
The average cost to remove wallpaper is around $3 per square foot, but the total depends on the type of wallpaper, how easy it is to remove, and the size of the room. Most homeowners spend around $780per room for wallpaper removal, and prices typically fall between $200 and $2,000. Wallpaper removal is expensive because it tends to be a very time-consuming job, and it can sometimes take a full day or more for the work to complete.
The easiest way to remove wallpaper is to use a steamer. The hot steam will loosen the wallpaper paste and make peeling the wallpaper off in large sheets much easier. Unfortunately, steamers can create irreparable damage on your walls, so it’s not a good idea for DIYers to use steamers to remove wallpaper. Instead, hire a professional wallpaper remover to do the work for you. This method will not only speed up the process, but it will also ensure your walls will remain intact post-wallpapering.
