"The work went extremely well. The men broke up and carried away all of the concrete the first day and then poured and smoothed the new concrete the second day. They took out the forms the third day and returned on the fourth day to clean up. The men worked extremely hard, especially considering the temp reached 104 the first day when they were breaking up the concrete. Peni, the owner, is pleasant to deal with and very accommodating. When we mentioned that we thought the apron might be a foot wider, he had his men change the forms to accomplish that. His price was very good, quite competitive with the other bids we got. He has great reviews and his license and insurance are up to date. We are extremely pleased with PMT and we do not hesitate to recommend them. We would certainly hire them again should we need work that they do."

"It went very smoothly through the whole construction project.  They worked well with the landscapers to install pipes under the concrete for the sprinklers and wiring for the lighting as well as drain pipes.  A year later, only one crack appeared under a gate on the side, they came out promptly and patched it.  It still looks beautiful 11 years later.  I would definitely hire them again if in need of concrete work."

Concrete Mudjacking questions, answered by experts

Polyjacking and mudjacking can both be effective solutions for sinking concrete, but they have key differences. Polyjacking, which uses expanding polyurethane foam, is often considered a better option because the foam is significantly lighter than the cementitious material used for mudjacking. This reduced weight puts less pressure on the underlying soil and lowers the risk of future sinking. Polyjacking is suitable for any sinking concrete slab, while mudjacking is typically only recommended for non-structural concrete, such as sidewalks, patios, pool decks, and driveways. The primary drawback of polyjacking is its cost, which can be up to four times higher than mudjacking—as much as $25 per square foot compared to a maximum of about $6 per square foot for mudjacking.

Most houses are expected to settle over time, but foundation sinking of more than a few inches or uneven sinking of more than an inch for every 20 feet is cause for concern. Any significant or uneven sinking should be assessed by a professional to determine the cause and perform any necessary repairs.

The timeframe is generally a few hours, allowing for immediate use post-hydration, ensuring minimal disruption to surrounding activities.

Yes, expanding foam (also known as polyurethane foam) can lift concrete. This approach, called polyjacking, involves injecting the foam rather than concrete slurry to fill voids and raise the concrete slab back into place. It’s often faster and requires smaller drill holes than traditional mudjacking, though it may come at a higher cost. Some contractors also prefer polyjacking over mudjacking for more damaged and delicate slabs.

A sinking foundation can be lifted, most often by installing piers to re-level and support the weight of the house. Depending on the cause and extent of the sinking, other methods to lift a foundation include underpinning and mudjacking. Consult a foundation repair pro to determine the best way to lift your sinking foundation.
