Mike Hamberg and Martin Tarafdar, who have collaborated on numerous projects since the early 1980’s, formed Border Studios in 1994. "Purchased 23 trees from David, which came with a 90 day warranty. Within a month of being delivered & planted, 14 of them slowly started to die despite a deep watering every day as instructed (his yardman, Kevin Hoyt, came out with a soil probe and tested for water saturation; each sample he pulled up along the drip line showed ample water saturation). The other trees are fine and doing well. David first tried to argue that it was a 60 day warranty (I have it in writing that the warranty was 90 days), then argued that the trees weren't adequately watered. The facts are these: David changed the warranty period after the fact, then used an arbitrary interpretation of the warranty to deny my claim. He cannot be trusted. Consider yourself forewarned."

"Lousy company policy and even worse management. After I paid $1000 for material and gave them 2 weeks to deliver roadbase, they never asked what time to deliver. I rented equipment to move earth and material. On the day of delivery they were NO-SHOW!!!! We spoke to them the morning of delivery and they said nothing about being ready for a call. We waited until the delivery window which already cost me 1/2 day of productivity. We called to ask about delivery and they canceled the order without telling us. I paid $1000 for earth moving machinery for NOTHING. THEY WERE NOT APOLOGETIC and didn't try to solution their blunder. They hung up on us when we said no one ever told us to wait for their call. UNPROFESSIONAL!! Steer clear of this lousy business. You will thank me later!"
