"I am very pleased with the service provided by Service King. They were prompt, courteous, professional, polite, and friendly. Everything looks and smells great. I am especially pleased with my sofa. It is a light yellow color and cannot be cleaned with water which is why I had it cleaned professionally in the first place. Tony was honest about what could be done with it since this was the first time it has been cleaned since I've owned it. It looks so much better and smells great. Everything was completed in about an hour and a half and dried in about four hours. Deorderizing of our carpets was offered at a very resonable price and he even cleaned our bedside rugs for free.

"Russell successfully found and removed mold from behind my toilet. The mold was pretty bad. He made sure the area was confined before removing the mold. He did an amazing job and we feel safe utilizing the bathroom again. He was very professional and took the time to explain what steps he needed to take. I will recommend him to my family and friends. His price beat other quotes I received."

"Rob and Cody were very punctual and thorough in the home inspection, they went into the attic and the crawlspace, took photos of everything and drew arrows to any problem areas, making it very easy for us to interpret the inspection report. I really appreciated how detailed they were when they did the walk-through of the house with us: they answered all our questions and were very helpful for us (especially as first-time home buyers). They made me feel much more confident going into closing than I would have been if I had used an inspection service suggested by my real-estate agent. I would highly recommend them to anyone and would definitely use them again in the future!"

Mold Testing and Remediation questions, answered by experts

Water damage doesn’t always cause mold and wood rot, but it can. Both mold and wood rot require moisture in the wood to form, so water damage that continues to leave water or moisture behind can lead to both issues. Water damage and mold often go hand-in-hand, but you can prevent mold growth after water damage by addressing the source of moisture and drying out the area quickly. The same goes for wood rot. The longer you let water damage go, the higher the risk of mold and rot.

If you’re worried mold might still be lingering after you’ve cleaned your items, here are signs to watch for:

  • Musty smell

  • Visible spots or stains

  • Allergy symptoms when you’re around the item

  • Damp or sticky feel.

If you notice these signs, it might be time to let go of the item or get professional treatment.

The primary difference is that black mold (Stachybotrys chartarum) is considered toxic and more dangerous than regular mold. It can produce harmful chemicals called mycotoxins, which may lead to severe health issues like respiratory problems, skin irritation, headaches, and other long-term complications. While regular mold is rarely toxic, it can still cause allergic reactions and respiratory irritation. Visually, black mold often appears dark—green, gray, brown, or black—with a fuzzy texture, whereas regular mold can be almost any color. Black mold is less common and typically grows in areas with severe water damage. Regardless of the type, you should not ignore any mold infestation in your home.

While an air purifier can trap mold spores and stop them from spreading around your home, it’s not the most effective solution for tackling the problem. Mold is caused by excess moisture and humidity, so there’s a good chance you have an issue somewhere else in your HVAC system that needs to be addressed.

Mold is a blight on your home but over time, can be an extreme health risk, especially for immunocompromised individuals. Depending on the type of mold you’re dealing with, you could even experience neurological symptoms, or in extreme cases, you can be hospitalized. Even a tiny speck of toxigenic mold can cause a whole slew of very serious health issues. Deal with any mold issues immediately.
