"ALR Painting did such a fantastic job. My home was built in 1908 and the original paint was chipping away and old. Alex was able to match the exact color of the house and went above and beyond my expectations. Sometimes you can get away with simply sanding and painting over small areas of peeling paint. However, the problem will likely return quickly, and the ridge between old and new paint will be visible. If you just need a quick fix and won't worry about appearance, chip away the peeling paint as much as possible, prime and paint the area, and skip the spackle step.

While a pressure washer is certainly powerful enough to remove old and peeling paint, this is not a great idea to do yourself. The pressure washer is so powerful that you could actually damage the walls as you strip away the paint. It’s best to leave paint stripping to the pros.

While the above methods will help you remove paint from tiles, you may need to take a different approach to get rid of grout haze. If you’ve recently applied the grout, you may be able to wipe it off with a wet cloth. Otherwise, you can try removing it with a rubber grout float, spraying it with a mixture of four parts water to one part vinegar, or using a store-bought grout haze remover.

Lead removal is crucial in older homes to eliminate risks of lead poisoning, which can severely affect health, particularly in children, by impacting development and cognitive functions.

Most handy homeowners can tackle removing texture from unpainted walls. Removing texture from painted walls is a bit trickier. Paint acts as a sealant, so you can’t soften the texture with water. Instead, you’ll have to add a layer of drywall compound known as a skim coat. This process is messy and takes some practice.
