"Luis and his guys are awesome! The work was done on time and looks better than I expected! I had my entire house remodeled, and Luis helped me with all the hardwood floors, tile in the Kitchen, bathroom and titled my entire master shower. The shower is by far the WOW piece of the house now. Everyone Loves it! Thanks again Luis for being easy to work with and very helpful through the process!!"

"Tom's quote wasn't the lowest, but it's generally my experience you get what you pay for and he came highly recommended. As the job progressed I came to see that in fact the quote wasn't out of line at all considering the effort and quality he puts into his work. Notably he did a lot of difficult and detailed prep work, something you don't see on the surface but makes for floor that lasts. Not hard to imagine this time consuming prep is likely an area a low bid installer would cut corners. Bottom line is Tom is a professional that takes pride in work and does it right!"

"I wanted to recommend Gomez Tile of Escondido to any one looking to have tile installed. I had them replace our master shower floor and convert our guest bathroom tub insert to a tiled shower. They did a beautiful job. They were very responsive, easy to work with and the follow through was perfect. I thought the price was very good for the quality of the work."

"We couldn’t be happier with the work done by Rene and his team. They installed a new backsplash in our kitchen and the quality exceeded our expectations. The attention to detail was outstanding. They were thorough with the cleanup after the job was done, which made the entire experience even better. It’s clear they take great pride in their work snd care about their customers. I recommend R.G. Tile to anyone looking for high-quality tile work and exceptional service."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

To maintain tile and grout, clean the surfaces regularly with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and wipe up spills promptly to prevent buildup. It is also important to reseal the grout every 1-2 years to maintain its durability.

No, tiling over painted walls or wallpapered surfaces is generally not recommended. Textured surfaces and paints will affect the adhesive, possibly causing tiles to lift or fall off. Painted walls with a semi-gloss or high-gloss finish are particularly difficult for adding tiles. It’s wise to strip the paint first if you install the tiles to drywall, although it’s still best to opt for a cement backer board.

It’s important to leave a gap in the corner when tiling to allow room for tile expansion. Leaving between one eighth of an inch to one tenth of an inch is enough space.

You can, in theory, tile your fireplace hearth with most tiles. However just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. For example, it’s much better to use unglazed tiles because glazed tiles are more resistant to cracking under extreme heat. Porcelain is more heat-resistant than ceramic, but you can still design the hearth as you like by putting the most heat-resistant tiles directly under the fire and, if it matches your style, add more decorative tiles further from the center of the fire.

When working on your bathroom floor tiling, you should always tile the floor first and then refit the toilet afterward. This has both practical and visual advantages—the tile will have a better seal, and the installation will look cleaner.

On the other hand, when you try to cut the tiles to fit around the toilet, you’re putting yourself at a disadvantage. It’s a lot more work, it’s hard to be precise, and mistakes or miscalculations can lead to future moisture damage to the tiling, grout, and subfloor.
