"The team of four was very professional and performed an excellent job in a record period of time. Just one day to take the old furnace away, replace all the old boots and duct work and install the new furnace. They paid a lot of attention not to damage or dirty the floor/carpet. I am very happy with their performance. They may not be the cheapest on the block but it was all worthed and you only have to do that once in your lifetime."

"Laura came out Friday evening to look at my heater (no heat). She found the problem easily and explained the issue in detail and what to do in the future. She is very professional and extremely knowledgeable. It was a pleasure to meet her and I have already given friends and family her contact information.

"Glen and his crew did an amazing job!!! They were very professional and willing to put in the extra effort to make sure we were happy with our kitchen. We had some unexpected issues arise and Glen was able to really give us peace of mind. He and his crew adjusted schedules, stayed extra hours, and really went the extra distance to make sure they got everything completed to our liking. They did an outstanding job and we will absolutely be working with them again."

"Good work on the toilets. They tried to get the rocking toilet to level out by adjusting the bolts but finally the repair person recommended pulling the toilet and starting over. Since the floor was tile, the original tile installer did not level the tile with the drain properly, so the toilet need to be leveled in several areas. Appreciated that the repair person took the time to do the job right! The other toilet had some minor roots in the drain from the ill placed wisteria bush directly outside the bathroom, and the repair person gave recommendations on products to kill the roots. Still having some problems though, and will have to have them come out to go deeper into the line to pull the now dead roots out of the line. And lastly, the faucet that was leaking outside turned out to just be the hose itself was leaking - I thought this was so simple an issue that the call out fee could have been waived on that minor item, no repair was even done, he just looked at it. I put a new hose on it and problem solved. They responded promptly and clean up after themselves very well. This company was referred to me by the home warranty service that I have."

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

An HVAC system typically lasts between 10 and 30 years, with an average lifespan of 15 to 25 years. The longevity of the system is influenced by factors such as the quality of the unit, usage frequency, local climate, and how well it is maintained. Regular maintenance, including cleaning, filter replacements, and professional inspections, can help maximize its lifespan. Different components within the system have varying life expectancies. For example:

  • Furnaces: 15 to 30 years

  • Boilers: 20 to 35 years

  • Air Conditioners (AC units): 12 to 20 years

  • Heat Pumps: 10 to 20 years

  • Ductless Mini-Splits: 10 to 30 years

Deciding whether or not to replace radiators with a different heating system depends on your personal preferences. Radiators can take longer to heat up than a central heating system, and they take up floor space. However, they can be very efficient at heating, and they keep rooms at a more comfortable humidity level in the winter than forced-air systems.

No, boilers and water heaters are not interchangeable because they serve different primary functions. Boilers are used for central heating systems, providing hot water or steam to heat your home. In contrast, a water heater's purpose is to supply hot water for daily household use, such as for faucets and showers. A water heater alone cannot supply the warm water or steam needed for a central heating system.

While they are not interchangeable, it is common to have both a boiler and a water heater. In fact, a conventional boiler often works best when a water heater system is already in place. The two systems can be combined to provide both heating and hot water, either by pairing a boiler with an indirect water heater or by installing a premade combination boiler-water heater unit. For home heating, some homeowners may also opt for a furnace instead of a boiler.

The best time to buy home heating oil is in the summer when the demand is lowest, as the prices are usually lower. However, waiting until the summer to buy is often unavoidable unless you install a separate storage tank. If you have the space for a second tank, you can expect to pay between $1,000 and $4,000 for the oil tank replacement or installation, depending on the capacity and location. You could quickly recuperate these costs, though, by stocking up on heating oil in the summer and avoiding deliveries in the winter when prices are highest.

In most cases, repairing a radiator is more affordable than replacing it. A typical repair may cost between $100 and $200, while a replacement can average $1,500, with a range of $250 to $2,500 depending on the unit type. Radiator issues are often simple fixes for a professional, such as a blown fuse, malfunctioning thermostat, or a loose valve, and can take less than an hour. However, if the long-term costs of fixing the radiator are higher than replacement, it's better to get a new model. It is recommended to consult a heating expert to diagnose the problem and determine the best solution for your situation.
