If you are interested in or planning to install a solar electric generating and storage system, I strongly encourage you to consider contracting with Valley Solar, Inc. to design, site and install the system for you. In designing and siting our system, Valley Solar considered both the constraints and opportunities of our residential property to accommodate the most efficient and cost-effective design. This included identifying the area and size of maximum solar exposure, the number of solar panels it could accommodate, and the generating efficiency and cost of the panels. Because our solar access area was limited, we chose to use higher efficiency (but more expensive) solar panels in order to maximize the generating capacity of the system and meet our target goal of a 5 kilowatt generating system. In adding an electricity storage (battery backup) system to our solar generating system to assure electricity supplies during utility system outages, Valley Solar considered the generating capacity of the solar panels, as well as the design of the home’s existing electricity system to determine the number of batteries required, and their location. Valley Solar has always been professional in building the project and continues to be available to address questions that may arise. They have always answered our questions, and included us in all decisions about the design, siting and construction of the system. They also responded quickly to address system operating problems that occurred during the initial “start up” period and coordinated the permitting process effectively with Sacramento County.

Valley Solar was one of the few companies that we talked to that actually listened to what we wanted. We wanted a solar system with a backup battery to protect against the PG&E "safety" blackouts. Most companies just proposed their standard "cookie cutter" solar system with no battery. When we reminded them that we wanted a battery the usual response was something like, "We should be able to add a battery to this system" - not very confidence inspiring. Valley Solar came with a plan that included exactly what we were asking for. They also had a no-battery system to show us in case we wanted to save some money. The installation went smoothly. The crew was very professional and did a clean and good looking job. They were always ready to explain what they were doing and why they were doing it. There were only a couple of negatives. The first was the length of time it took from signing the contract to getting the system installed. The contract was signed on November 26, 2019. It stated an estimated start date of January 15, 2020 and an estimated completion date of February 15, 2020. The actual installation did not take place until the first week of March. The second negative involved the inverter which they chose to use. It was made by Solar Edge, and can be programmed in to function in different ways. One thing that can be changed is the amount of battery energy to reserve for backup protection. This is something that we would like to change at times. If we are going to be away from home for a while, we would like to set this value much higher than when we are at home. The priorities of how the solar energy is split between being used in our home, charging the battery, and sending to PG&E may need changing as PG&E's rate structure changes. The problem is that no provision is made for the customer (who is the owner of the system) to make these changes. We have to call Valley Solar whenever a change has to be made. This makes changing the battery reserve when we go away impractical. We had Valley Solar change the settings when PG&E switched us from the "Tiered" rate plan to the "Time-of-Use" plan. But what about future changes, if Valley Solar, or Solar Edge, is no longer in business? Maybe all inverters have this same problem, which would mean that this is not the fault of Valley Solar. Despite the negatives, we are pleased with Valley Solar, and would recommend them to anyone considering solar energy.

All work was done on time in a professional manner. These folks did exactly as agreed. They have the entire process “dialed in”. You won’t be disappointed or “left in the dark” in any way.

Very well. Full crews on the main days, and good daily cleanup. The most important thing is that at fist a piece didn't work and the monitoring software for the battery was not as I wanted. This company persisted until it all was RIGHT and did so cheerfully.

The service was excellent, I have no problem, everybody was nice, the sales people are nice and they don't pressure. The office people are good to talk to, they have a reasonable price and reliable materials used.. They did above and beyond what was expected. They are very responsive and always available when you need their service.

They did a fantastic job. They were prompt, professional, did what they said they would do and when they said they would do it. And they just did a fantastic and professional work on installing the panels on our tile roof.

Everything was done very professionally from start to finish. During the installation, the temperature was over 100 degrees and one of the installers had an emergency and had to leave but the owner got on the roof to help, and they completed the job as promised on that day.

Valley Solar was helpful throughout the process and installs some of the best panels on the market backed by a 25 year parts and labor warranty. Can’t beat that. We’ve been happy with them for our Solar project and looking forward to a few decades worth of use for our panels!

The project went smooth and was completed in a timely manner. The company was very honest by selling me the appropriate number of solar panels that would be cost effective. This is not the company that will try to up sell you by placing panels on the north and east portions of your roof. The owner of the company showed up and filled me in on some of the details. He even took the time to help me move some of the items in my garage All of the employees looked and acted professional. The end product looked very nice with no wire/housing visible from the front of my residence. At the end of the project the employees picked up all of the debris. Awesome customer service.

Excellent work. The company worked closely with us to scope out the size and location of the panels. We also had to tie in a separate power source in the back of the property that powers our well and other stuff. They were inventive in solving our unique issues.

They were very professional and responded very quickly during the project. They took care of all the permitting process, came to the job at the exact time they said the would, completed work in one day and left the site clean. And always returned phone calls promptly.
