The roof looks amazing and the quality of the work is very noticeable. Hailey provided outstanding customer service and kept us informed throughout the entire project. Highly recommend them!"

"The Miller Roofing Services are our heroes! They came to us during a time of dire need. Out roof was in disarray during one of the worst rainstorms here in Sacramento (early December). Our Friends referred the Miller Roofing Services to us. It took them less than 36 hours, start to finish in taking care of the job (our roof is ~1300-1500 sq ft). It has been a couple of rainy weeks since the roof was installed, and it holds up! Our neighbors constantly compliment us on the roof. We highly recommend this group to take care of your roofing needs. They excel at what they do! Thank you so much Miller Roofing Services for saving us during this wild rainstorm season that we call winter!"

"The project went even better than I thought it would. We had a hard time finding someone who would work on fixes to existing roof. Most wanted to do full replace. Northern California roofing came very quickly to do estimate and was able to start work on roof within a week. Great turn around. The work was very well done and makes us feel like we have a new roof. Can’t wait for next rain!"

"Rocky and his team were professional, fast, and cost-effective! We had a three-car garage that we wanted to get professionally epoxy coated as I run a small business detailing cars out of it. Rocky came by the same day to provide me with a quote and was able to get the work done the next weekend! The pricing was competitive, the quality was top-notch, and now my garage looks like a professional auto body shop!!! He was also super knowledgeable and the materials and the prep and gave me suggestions on what type of material would work best in my application. Since he has experience in the commercial space, none of the material was that home Depot garbage that delaminates in a year or two. Everything was commercial grade and has a great warranty. I highly recommend him for any type of epoxy floors!"

"John was very friendly, very nice and very open. I knew spartan was the one as soon as I spoke with him. Plus the interest rate was very reasonable. And Amy in the office was so sweet, so helpful. I was nervous because progressive was going to cancel my insurance due to my old roof. I spent the whole day calling people and finally found spartan, Amy walked me through everytbing. "I hired this roofing company for a full roof replacement. Overall, the experience was very positive. The crew showed up on time each day and kept me updated throughout the process. They explained the materials they were using and answered all my questions clearly. The job was completed in two days, and the cleanup was thorough, no nails or debris left behind. The price was in line with other quotes I received, and there were no surprise charges. The only issue was a slight delay in starting due to weather, but they communicated that ahead of time. I’d definitely recommend them to anyone needing roofing work and would use them again."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

If you need to replace the roof over your attached garage, a roofing contractor can perform what is called a partial roof replacement that only affects garage roofing. However, it's important to keep in mind that only replacing a portion of your roof creates a situation where your roofing has two different lifespans. You will also miss out on the opportunity for a full roof warranty. In some cases, having two different roofs on your home could increase risks for leaks. When replacing the roof on a detached garage, homeowners have the option to make the project bigger by upgrading their home roof alongside their garage roof. However, this isn't necessary if your home has a newer, properly functioning roof. It is better to try to match the new garage roof to your home's existing roof instead.

An improper DIY roof cleaning could cause leaks by damaging the roofing material. Things like using too much water pressure on the shingles or applying a harsh cleaning solution could cause damage. If you do enough damage, you could harm the ability of the shingles or other roof materials to keep water out of your home.

16-gauge galvanized steel staples with a minimum crown of 15/16 inches or 24 millimeters are occasionally used to install shingles. However, most shingle manufacturers or residential building codes don’t recommend staples as a roofing fastener. Roofing nails are preferred in most cases, especially in areas that get a lot of heavy wind.

Heated roofs are a preventative measure and don’t have an outsized effect on your home’s value, so there is no definitive answer to this question. If you diligently monitor your roof in colder months, ensuring there is never snow or ice buildup then no, maybe they aren’t worth it. However, who really watches their roof every day or goes out in freezing weather to rake the roof? For most people worried about roof damage in the winter, heated roofs are a good investment.

A chimney cap costs about $300 on average to install, with prices ranging from $75 to $1,000. The final cost depends on several factors, including the professional you hire, the accessibility of your chimney, the cap's material and size, whether any repairs are needed, and if it requires custom fabrication. Chimney caps are usually made from galvanized steel, stainless steel, or copper. Copper caps are the most expensive, followed by stainless steel and then galvanized steel. Excluding labor, average material costs are around $100 for galvanized steel, $250 for stainless steel, and $600 for copper. You may also face additional costs, such as hiring a chimney sweep to clean the chimney before the cap is installed.
