"I was surprised, it was quick and it was easy from the time they tore up the old concrete prepared and. Disposed of the old driveway, poured the new concrete. It only took 2 days, but they were exceptional. I can only give praises to the professionalism and how well they did their job. They treated my driveway like they were putting one in a in a 5 million dollar home and all the workers were courteous. I have already recommended them to a few people for some jobs they're looking to have done.."

"We love our driveway! I have met with and worked with a lot of contractors. I can honestly say that their communication and quality was the best I’ve worked with in years. They were proactive and responded to questions and changes quickly. They were flexible but provided helpful guidance. They were incredibly kind and professional. In the end, the quality of work exactly what we wanted and they actually finished ahead of schedule. I’d recommend them to anyone and would love to work with them again myself."

Small jobs welcome

"Guillermo and his crew were unbelievable. My house downstairs and upstairs was a total dust bowl after a construction job. I'm still looking for dust but can't find any. They were polite, hardworking, and very thorough. I would definitely recommend Reyes Cleaning Services and knowing that they are licensed and bonded is a plus.l"

Customers say: True professional

"Natural Vibrations Inc. just completed our second project with them, conversion of a 1960s rumpus room into a junior ADU, including bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and dining space. It required thoughtful design, placement of lengthy sewer and water lines, extensive new electrical work, addition of a window, HVAC heat pump system, removal and replacement of new sheetrock, insulation, porcelain flooring, quartz countertops, appliances, fine carpentry including custom shelving, restoration of antique stained glass windows, tiling, and a versatile lighting system with spectrum-adjustable LED illumination. This was accomplished with minimal disruption and maximum attention to our input at every stage. We enjoyed their cheerful company and parted, once again, on the best of terms."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

An asphalt driveway should be at least 3 inches thick over a compacted gravel base. Areas with poor drainage should have a thicker stone base. To install a new asphalt driveway over an existing driveway, the new asphalt should be at least 2 inches thick and the existing driveway should be in relatively good condition.

In terms of durability, concrete driveways can last more than 50 years when properly maintained, compared to the typical 30 years for an asphalt driveway. However, the durability depends on the climate, base material and thickness, and thickness of the concrete or asphalt used. The longevity of concrete or asphalt driveways also depends on how well it’s maintained and the amount of wear and tear it endures.

When comparing installation costs, asphalt is often less expensive upfront than concrete. Asphalt prices typically range from $7 to $15 per square foot, while concrete can range from $3 to $18 per square foot. However, long-term costs should also be considered. Concrete driveways generally last longer (up to twice as long) and require less maintenance, which can make them more affordable over their lifespan. While asphalt has a lower installation cost and is easier to repair, it requires more frequent maintenance, such as sealing, which can add up over time. Therefore, while concrete is more expensive initially, its durability may offset the cost in the long run.

In most cases, you don’t need a permit to repave your driveway, although some exceptions exist. If you’re widening your driveway and plan on widening the apron as well, you’ll usually need a permit from the Department of Transportation in your area. This permit costs between $50 and $300 in most cases. Most municipalities will also require a certified and insured contractor do the work relating to the apron and curb cut. You can contact your building department or ask your paving company if you need a permit. Your driveway professional will usually pull the permit for you.

To ensure you hire a reliable and experienced paving company, you should start by finding companies in your area that have at least five to ten years of experience working in your neighborhood. Next, rule out companies with poor reviews online or a series of complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau. Since driveways affect your curb appeal, you should also ask each company for references and pictures of recent work to make sure the work the company does is professional and high quality. Finally, check that the company is licensed and insured.
