"I was surprised, it was quick and it was easy from the time they tore up the old concrete prepared and. Disposed of the old driveway, poured the new concrete. It only took 2 days, but they were exceptional. I can only give praises to the professionalism and how well they did their job. They treated my driveway like they were putting one in a in a 5 million dollar home and all the workers were courteous. I have already recommended them to a few people for some jobs they're looking to have done.."

"It went great. Eli was very helpful in making suggestions on what would work well for my yard. He and his team came in and did a great job in two days. I couldn’t be happier and will definitely have him back in the future. Eli was a pleasure to work with and understood what I was envisioning for my yard."

"Eduardo, Bay Breeze Landscaping, and his team transformed my front yard from a patch of dirt to a lush lawn in just a few hours. I’ve lived in this SF house for 15 years and the lawn only looks nice (and certainly not this nice) during rainy season. Bay Breeze helped me determine the design plan, provided a trusted, reasonable quote to hire/manage/customize the plumbing required to install a sprinkler system, and in just a few hours dig up the current yard, add gopher barriers, install a hardwired automatic sprinkler system, and lay gorgeous high-end sod. I’m beyond happy and would recommend Bay Breeze Landscaping to anyone."

"We love our driveway! I have met with and worked with a lot of contractors. I can honestly say that their communication and quality was the best I’ve worked with in years. They were proactive and responded to questions and changes quickly. They were flexible but provided helpful guidance. They were incredibly kind and professional. In the end, the quality of work exactly what we wanted and they actually finished ahead of schedule. I’d recommend them to anyone and would love to work with them again myself."

Small jobs welcome

"Guillermo and his crew were unbelievable. My house downstairs and upstairs was a total dust bowl after a construction job. I'm still looking for dust but can't find any. They were polite, hardworking, and very thorough. I would definitely recommend Reyes Cleaning Services and knowing that they are licensed and bonded is a plus.l"

"Do your homework and you won t be disappointed with Alliance Interlocking Pavers!! I watched the company complete my friend s driveway and floor. I was so impressed with the crew, workmanship, design and attention to details that I called for a quote having already interviewed three companies. Carlos Palacios was extremely professional and informative about the job. Communication was excellent and calls were returned almost immediately. Any concerns were taken care of as a matter of importance. Changes to our project were carefully thought out with honesty and integrity. The crew and the outstanding pavers showed a great of pride in their work. They were punctual and the clean up at the end of the day was outstanding. Once our driveway, additional parking area and walkway project was half completed, we added the steps, a retaining wall and porch to our project. My husband and I, friends and neighbors truly felt we got our money s worth for the beautiful work done."

"Salesman Sui was the initial contact with the company and he delivered a good working plan and was very reasonable in cost. Eli was the project manager and he made some design changes that improved the whole project. The whole work crew started work at 7:30 each day and worked consistently to get the job done in a timely fashion. Iâ m very pleased with the quality of work and would recommend them to everyone desiring a quality result to a paver project!"

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Yes, using recycled asphalt millings is an eco-friendly alternative compared to concrete. Millings are reclaimed pieces of gravel that are recycled into aggregate that can be used on driveways, patios, walkways, basketball courts, tennis courts, and more.

Asphalt edging secures the sides of your driveway to prevent crumbling and cracking over time. Most driveways have edges with a 45-degree grading. This helps transfer some of the stress from the asphalt to the ground underneath. If your driveway doesn’t have proper edging, the pressure from your car may break down the edges over time.

Asphalt and tarmac are not the same thing. Traditional tarmac, short for tarmacadam, uses tar as a binder to hold crushed stone together. Asphalt uses bitumen—a byproduct of crude oil—to bind aggregate. Though tarmac was once a go-to for roads, asphalt has become the modern standard. And these days, most surfaces referred to as “tarmac” are actually asphalt. So, while the names may overlap, the key distinction lies in the binder—tar for tarmac and bitumen for asphalt.

If you’re looking for a similar, eco-friendly driveway material, you might consider one of these options:

  • Permeable pavement: This material is sometimes called “pervious” or “porous” pavement; it allows stormwater to drain into the subbase, eliminating storm drain costs.

  • Gravel: Consider paving your driveway with locally sourced gravel. By sourcing from a nearby source, your money won’t fund international shipping and will be invested back into your local community.

  • Natural stone pavers: Because natural stone pavers are made from organically-produced stone, there’s no new manufacturing required, limiting the environmental impact. In addition, water easily flows and drains through the gaps in the pavers.

While paving a driveway is possible to do as a DIY project, we don’t recommend it. Hiring a driveway professional to pave it will ensure that your driveway looks neat and clean and lasts for years to come, and it will also prevent a weak driveway and, potentially, damage to your foundation. Paving a driveway requires heavy machinery, and while you can rent the equipment needed, operating it close to your garage slab or around your home’s foundation can crack it and lead to structural issues.
