"Wonderful guy! Professional all the way. Competitive price. Ahmed installed an EV charger for me and a couple of ceiling lights. Tough to find somebody good ... excited when I find someone good to work with! Will be calling him back for more. Hire him, you'll see what I mean."

"Friendly service, good responsiveness and communicativeness I had a mysterious issue with my bathroom fan. A number of contractors had inspected it, but they were not able to conclude anything. Thankfully Emelco Electric helped me with it. Scheduling was easy. Iraj communicated with me every step of the way. I had a lot of questions, and Iraj answered everything. When they visited, Amin did a great job inspecting and diagnosing my fan. He carefully inspected the fan, part of the ducting, and the attic. The only downside was he left some dust on the floor. In any case, I appreciate their service and I look forward to working with them again"

"I highly recommend you hire Pellegrín Electric for your next electrical project. Alphonso, the owner, is straightforward and honest. He replaced several old ceiling lights and bathroom fans for us. He was very responsive through text, calls, and via the app. His son Brian is awesome too!"

Small jobs welcome

"Mr Scott Wooding came to my house, diagnosed the problem with my aging fan, pulled the worn out belt, advised he would order the part and return. Return he did, within 30 minutes. Fixed the fan, looked at some other electrical issues I had and resolved them. Delightful gentleman. Will keep his name in my list of reliable businesses in the area. Thank you Scott"

"Everything went fine with the exception of the fan install which was pretty tricky - we have some funky wiring done in the 80s by the old homeowner. Otherwise, great - Marcus got out to our house quickly and there were A LOT of lights/switches/exhaust fans to install which were taken care of quickly and at a reasonable price."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

If you’re removing a ceiling fan without visible screws, start by locating the fan canopy—a round cover placed above the fan blades and motor. There should be a thin ring that can be turned counterclockwise to remove the canopy and reveal the screws. After unscrewing the fan, you can disconnect the wires and remove the entire fan from the mounting hardware. For safety, make sure the fan switch is turned off before you remove the canopy. It may be easier to remove the fan blades first, too.

The number of blades for your fan poses both advantages and disadvantages. Typically, the more blades on a fan, the better the air distribution and cooling effect, but this also means that your fan will have more wear on its motor. For small rooms, three-blade fans should work fine. For larger areas like living rooms, four or five-blade fans might be the better option.

No, a ceiling fan doesn’t have to be wired to a switch, but it’s often more convenient. You can use the included pull chain if your ceiling isn’t too high or install a remote module later, as they are a cheap, easy-to-install option that’ll let you control both the fan and light fixture.

Since the cost of installing a ceiling fan is $250 for most homeowners, it might be beneficial to replace your existing fan if you are experiencing a significant repair issue, like a broken motor. However, for less expensive repairs, like a fan blade replacement, you’ll likely spend less on the repair than a complete fan replacement. Of course, if you’re looking for an upgrade or a new style fan, replacing it altogether is always an option.

Hiring an electrician to install a new ceiling fan may be the best course of action. Installing a ceiling fan requires basic electrical and mechanical knowledge. It also requires holding it up with one hand and in an awkward position, making the installation even more difficult. If you’re uncomfortable with these circumstances, your best bet is to hire a professional.
