"Always on time; with their quote, came in the time agreed to to start the job. Did a great job on the ceiling can lights, the new fuse box and made minor cuts into the walls and ceiling. He also gave his suggestions when ever possible. I will call him in the future if another opportunity comes for electrical work."

Small jobs welcome

"Friendly service, good responsiveness and communicativeness I had a mysterious issue with my bathroom fan. A number of contractors had inspected it, but they were not able to conclude anything. Thankfully Emelco Electric helped me with it. Scheduling was easy. Iraj communicated with me every step of the way. I had a lot of questions, and Iraj answered everything. When they visited, Amin did a great job inspecting and diagnosing my fan. He carefully inspected the fan, part of the ducting, and the attic. The only downside was he left some dust on the floor. In any case, I appreciate their service and I look forward to working with them again"

"Everything went fine with the exception of the fan install which was pretty tricky - we have some funky wiring done in the 80s by the old homeowner. Otherwise, great - Marcus got out to our house quickly and there were A LOT of lights/switches/exhaust fans to install which were taken care of quickly and at a reasonable price."

"Sepanta Electric – Exceptional Full House Rewire I hired Sepanta Electric for a complete home electrical rewire, and the experience exceeded expectations from start to finish. Ben was a pleasure to work with — patient, communicative, and flexible through multiple change orders without ever making the process feel complicated. The scope of work was extensive: upgrading the main panel from 100A to 200A, installing 2 subpanels, and connecting a 28.8kW electric water heater. Despite the complexity, the project came in on time and on budget with zero delays. What really sets Ben apart is that he works hands-on alongside his team during the electrical work — a rarity that translates directly into savings for the customer and tighter quality control. After getting 6 competing quotes, Sepanta came in at a fair price without cutting corners. Highly recommend Ben and the Sepanta Electric team for any project, big or small."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

If you’re removing a ceiling fan without visible screws, start by locating the fan canopy—a round cover placed above the fan blades and motor. There should be a thin ring that can be turned counterclockwise to remove the canopy and reveal the screws. After unscrewing the fan, you can disconnect the wires and remove the entire fan from the mounting hardware. For safety, make sure the fan switch is turned off before you remove the canopy. It may be easier to remove the fan blades first, too.

Fan power is measured by CFM, or cubic feet per minute. For every 1,000 feet of square footage in your attic, you need a minimum of 700 CFM. Steeper roofs may need larger fans or about 840 CFM.  You can figure the size of attic fan you need by multiplying the square footage of your attic floor by 0.7. (multiply by 1.2 for a steep roof and 1.15 for a dark roof). That number is the CFM required for your fan to run efficiently.

The more surface area that a ceiling fan blade has, the more effective it will be at producing airflow. Therefore, a longer ceiling fan blade is the better option if you’re looking for more wind. However, a longer blade will consume more energy than a shorter blade.

A typical fan installation takes between two and six hours. The exact timeframe can be influenced by factors such as the home's structure, existing electrical characteristics, ease of attic access, and whether complex wiring or additional attic ventilation work is required.

Ceiling fans can be a great way to cool your home without the expensive utility bill of running an air conditioner. Plus, ceiling fans can sometimes run in both directions, pushing hot air down in winter and pulling cold air up in summer. With that said, air conditioning might be the only thing that helps if you live in a very warm climate.
