"Smart Heating and Air Conditioning was very responsive and came out when we really needed them. We were without heat as our old furnace no longer worked and our AC was on its last leg. Mike came out to give us a quote which was the best out of three that we had. He went over all options with us and now we are very satisfied to have a new and efficient heating and AC system. They lived up to their name as well, by upgrading my thermostat to a WiFi one that added that SMART touch to mv system."

"This project needed 2 people. My old refrigerator was extremely heavy. I took a photo and submitted it Angie’s list. I would of thought a large stainless steel fridge would almost impossible to move with only one pro. My only complaint is that my old fridge is sitting outside because it was too heavy and dangerous for the pro to move to the garage himself."

Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

While many states do not have specific licensing requirements for HVAC companies, your local city or county might. It's always a good idea to check local requirements online and use a tool like Angi’s contractor license lookup to confirm that the company you’re considering is licensed. Regardless of licensing, you should always ensure the company you hire is fully insured to avoid potential lawsuits if a technician is injured on your property. Additionally, it is recommended to check if the company holds third-party certifications, such as North American Technician Excellence (NATE) certification or R-410A certification, which qualifies them to work with HVAC refrigerants.

An AC inspection costs anywhere from $75 to $200, while a full HVAC system inspection that includes your furnace ranges from $200 to $450. While there's a cost to a home AC inspection, it can save you hundreds or thousands in the long run by catching problems, avoiding breaks, and saving you money on your utility bills.

AC drip pans last five to 20 years, depending on the material. Plastic AC drip pans last five to 10 years, while metal pans can last over 10 years. Plastic AC drip pans are vulnerable to cracking in response to temperature changes. Metal drip pans are prone to rusting over time, which can also lead to leaks.

You should know the main components of an air conditioner: the condenser coils, evaporator coils, drip pan, AC filter, ducts, and refrigerant. Each part plays a key role in the performance and safety of your AC system. When tracking the source of AC issues or odors, it helps to know where to look. Your outdoor unit houses your condenser coils, fan, and compressor. Your indoor unit houses your evaporator coils, drain lines, and filter, and it connects to your ductwork.

A damper motor can last up to 15 years, but it can wear out more quickly than that if you run your HVAC unit a lot. So you might expect a longer life in a colder climate than if you live in a warmer climate.
