"Carlos had never done this type of job before; consequently he prepared for the job by inspecting the awning installation and reading the installation/operational literature. We talked about several possible procedures, and at Carlos suggestion, solicited assistance from the awning manufacturer. Limited assistance was provided by the manufacturer because of the unique installation for our awning. Carlos and I agreed on an approach,which required: detaching the awning rail from the house, lowering the support arms to the deck rail, removing the roller, lowering the assembly to the ground level, bolting the roller to a bench and successfully replacing the 15' long material on the roller. Then Carlos had to use some information by the manufacturer together with an improvised work around to properly wind the roller's two springs. The assembly was then remounted. His charge was very reasonable, about half the cost estimate from an awning company."
