Kerrey arrived early and stayed until after 5. Really got a lot accomplished. Very professional. He knows what he is doing. Nice pleasant gentleman as well.
Very pleased with his work and what he accomplished in one day. Will definitely work with again. When we went materials shopping, he made sure we had a complete list of everything we needed for the tasks for the day, so the shopping went very efficiently, I liked that he gave some explanation on why he selected certain types of materials. Kerry seamless handled the variety of tasks I had asked for. At the end of the day, Kerry left all work areas in good condition.
Kerry is great guy for remodeling jobs because his experience for all the various types of work needed, as well as very willing to offer instruction if you want to do some of the remodeling work or prep work yourself. I am on a limited budget, and also really appreciated that he was very conscientious letting me know how to get good value for the materials I needed
- Kerry has a great work ethic, and I was surprised how much he got done. He also did not take unnecessary shortcuts, and his work really shows this. For example, for the two new kitchen outlets installation, he asked if he could remove the old counter top/back splash below where the new outlets were to be located, so that the wall integrity would stay whole as the wall was in good shape. End result - the wall area above the back splash edge where the new sockets were installed was indeed left in perfect shape when he was done.
- I would especially recommend him for remodeling work - his breadth of experience will save you time and money on your remodeling project, more so if this is your first remodeling project. Kerry has a very pleasant and helpful personality. He was very patient at answering my many remodeling questions (this is my first remodeling project), and made sure I understood the why of what things needed to be done in a certain way.
He is to come back and install electrical boxes in ceilings of two bedrooms along with fans.
I had to pitch in on the door delivery from the local hardware store and on the lock installation, but I am happy with the overall result. The door looks professionally installed and has a nice, solid feel to it when opened or closed. Kerry had lots of previous experience with similar projects, and it shows.
I used his services after buying one of the Big Deals for a low price on 8 hours of access to a general handyman. I needed a broken tub swapped out so I could get the shower surround tiled. I also asked if he could remove my existing laundry center and install the new one I had delivered. He said he could do the job but it would cost a little extra to account for the helper he would need for the time. It seemed reasonable so I agreed. He also said he would need to rent an appliance dolly to move the laundry thing. Fine, all systems go.
He arrived about 10 minutes early and got to work. He forgot a few tools so he borrowed mine. No big deal. The tub project went ok though he did cause a little bet of damage to a cabinet and some walls in the hallway. I fixed them my self.
The real problem happened when he needed to swap out the laundry thing. He didn't get the appliance dolly and he and his helper tried to carry it out. While doing so they lost control of it and it slid down the stairs, gouging the hardwood floor when it hit the bottom. Then his plan was to simply slide the thing down the 17 concrete stairs outside. At that point I told him i planned on reselling it and to leave it where it was. At that point the job was done enough so we made plans for him to come back and fix the floor at a later date and we called it a day. I finished the laundry job with my brother in law and sprained my back and knee in the process.
He showed up an hour late on the floor fixing day and had forgotten a shop vac again so he used mine. I gave him the floor planks he needed and asked him to just replace the planks in the area. I was working at home that day so I didn't hover or keep track of his work though I wish he had. He didn't replace all the planks, opted to fill and sand some of them which was completely obviously visible (why not just replace it, you had the plank?). We also found out a couple days later that the planks had not been secured to the floor since they are now bowed up and flex when you step on them. At this point I'm just done so I'm hiring a flooring company to come do the job right.
On a positive note, he did fix a squeak in the entrance way by tacking some extra floorboard under the door frame so I do appreciate that.
Like I said, he's a really nice guy and I hate writing this review but he just didn't seem up to this one.
I have no complaints, and would use this company again for handyman-type work without hesitation. One tip that I wish I had known in advance, is to have the contractor see the job beforehand, itemize the materials needed in advance, and purchase everything BEFORE coming to do the work. This would have saved us time, because several trips were made the day of.
The week Kerry (sp?) was to come out he had to cancel because of a Dr appt. He had surgery on a broken ankle that was healing from a yr ago. No problem since my husband went through similar things 2 yrs ago. So it was arranged to come out a week later, Aug 2nd, which he did.
He was very mannerly and went to work at once. He gave me a quote on the job and even though it took 2 days because of unforseen things, the price remained the same. Everything was cleaned up and we are very pleased with the work and attitude of Kerry. The dogs even liked him!
I had trepedations about getting someone who had experience, an honest business sense and scrouples but am really happy with the experience and will use them in the future. My husband thought about it all and agreed that Kerry did an excellent job and has no problem with using them again for other things.
