"Mike, Evelyn, and their team were true professionals. 1. The team was on time both for removal and for the installation, which I had chosen to do on different days. 2. They were neat and tidy while doing the job. 3. They were respectful of my property while they were here. 4. They cleaned up at the end of the job so I couldn't even tell they had been here except that I had a fully insulated house at the end of the job. Finally, their pricing was competitive, which was very much appreciated. I cannot say enough good things about them. They were great to work with and they were flexible on scheduling. Highly recommended!"

"It's rare to find an honest, knowledgeable, hard-working, no-nonsense Heating/AC contractor who is also prompt and does quality work for a good price. And finding one who is also licensed to install wall and attic insulation is even more difficult to find. But I found all of those qualities in Americool. Scott (the owner) and his crew were prompt, courteous, and did a great job replacing my furnace and AC coil and condenser, installing an automatic attic fan, blowing insulation in the exterior walls, and adding more insulation in the attic. He and his crew also spent extra time stepping up to the challenge and adding a large duct for a second air return even though there was very little attic space and it was a very hot day. It was truly a pleasure dealing with Scott from start to finish. He's a very friendly guy, no pressure and no games. He told me beforehand what he would do, and he and his crew did exactly that. Scott also prepared and gave me the energy rebate paperwork for the qualifying attic and wall insulation additions. I'm surprised that there aren't more reviews for Americool. Thanks Scott!"

Eifs Installers questions, answered by experts

Yes, you absolutely need a permit to add a window to your house. Your contractor can likely obtain this permit on your behalf. Ask about this when getting quotes from multiple window contractors.

Yes, egress windows are grandfathered. However, this comes with some specifications. If you are remodeling a basement or adding a sleeping area, you’ll need to update the egress windows to be up to proper code. But, if you’re leaving your home as is, you do not have to adhere to these requirements.

They meet local code demands for escape routes, lighten basements, and aid in reducing overall humidity.

Installing a window well costs anywhere from $500 to $1,500 or more. Adding an egress window and well runs about $3,900 on average. Adding a window well cover to the project can add $200 to $700. A well cover helps protect your egress windows from weather damage and keeps them clear of dirt, debris, and wildlife.

An egress window is similar to a regular window. However, this type of window opens fully to allow people to escape the home or rescue personnel to enter the home if an emergency occurs. Egress windows are required in all finished basements before they can be considered a living space.
