"In both cases, we were incredibly pleased. We've worked with a lot contractors over the years and never worked with a company like Pristine. Consequently they are the only company we've worked with a second time. They are extremely professional. Their standards for quality workmanship are very high and they do what they say they'll do, when they say they'll do it. They have a strong network of suppliers and whether Nathan or Mike is leading your project, they make you feel like your project is their top priority. They have a lot of experience and offer great ideas for layouts and solutions when a problem needs to be solved. And they are great with communication. They keep you informed as to what's happening and they respond quickly if you have a question or want to talk about the work in progress. Our experience has been excellent and in both cases we have been very happy with the work. We will call them again and give them the highest of recommendations. You will not be disappointed if you work with Pristine."

"I hired Art General contractor to redo my kitchen floor. It was ruin by a leaky fridge. They suggested to go with waterproof flooring. They spend extra time to make sure everything was perfect before they left. Will be calling them again when I finish the bottom floor."

"Prior to engaging the professional services of INA Kitchens, we did a large due diligence, and we met with 4 additional home remodeling companies that ended up with 4 different estimates of our remodeling project. After we met with Eran, we decided to select INA Kitchens for the work. Eran is a truly professional and skilled person with no nonsense of any kind. Eran finished our remodeling project on time and his overall price was 80% less than the other ones. During the time of the remodeling, Eran was supervising each and every stage of the work. At the end we are excited about the final results. The team of workers were nice, honest, and left the house each day in a clean manner. We are currently planning to have another remodeling project at our house and we absolutely will not shop around for any other contractor! Eran and INA Kitchens will be the only ones we will call!!"

"The day after we signed the bid from Far Hill Constructuon, Steven and his Foreman came back our to our place to take final measurements. They ordered the materials needed from the fabricator and stayed on schedule, completing the installation in a professional and timely manner. Prior to confirming it was all done, Steven came back to inspect the final product and noticed an immaterial thing that had been missed (painting a screw the same color as the gate/bracket) and ensured that the crew came back to finish that touch up (without my wife or I noticing) the cost was competitive with the market price and the service/finished product are top of the line! This is by far the best experience that my wife and I have had using a contractor for home improvements."

"Gil, the project managerâ s initial presentation was very up front and thorough. He listened to us, and explained what he could offer, and gave us a sense of confidence in him. His crew is outstanding, courteous and polite. Itâ s obvious they are good at what they do. Glad we chose to have Platinum Home Builders and Design, Inc. to handle our bathroom remodels."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

There are approximately 5.33 board feet in a 2x4. You can use the board foot calculator in this article to easily find the answer. A 2x4 is 2 inches of thickness by 4 inches of width, so you need to find the length, with 8 feet being the most common. You’d use the calculator here to multiply 2 times 4 times 8, and then divide by 12, arriving at a total of 5.33 board feet.

For maximum stability, install grab bars on wall studs, as this will adequately support the weight. However, if you don't have access to studs, you can get by with wall anchors. If opting for the latter, choose specialty hollow wall anchors.

Yes, ceiling joists are typically load-bearing. However, their primary function is to support the weight of the ceiling and loads applied to it, like lighting fixtures and ceiling fans. They can also help support the roof, especially if they’re part of truss systems. Remember, the load-bearing capacity of ceiling joists depends on the material, size, and space between them.

When choosing a drywall anchor, consider the weight of the object you're hanging and how much weight the anchor will need to support. The heavier the weight, the stronger the anchor you'll need. You’ll find the weight capacity on the packaging when shopping for anchors.

Also, remember that you can use more than one anchor when hanging something on the wall. If you're using multiple anchors, divide the object weight by the number of anchors to determine how much each will need to support. If you need help deciding which drywall anchor to use, you can hire a handyperson to hang your objects.

When deciding whether to use nails or screws for framing, the specific needs of the project must be taken into account. Nails have long been the go-to option for framing due to their affordability, ease of installation, and ability to withstand shear forces. They are perfect for structural framing projects where fast assembly is essential. In contrast, screws offer exceptional holding power and are particularly useful in situations requiring increased strength and resistance to pull-out forces. For projects that prioritize accuracy and long-lasting quality, screws may be the preferred option, though nails remain a dependable and efficient choice.
