"On multiple projects both interior and exterior Jonathan has done beautiful work on my home. He has replaced broken fencing created an exterior overhang replacement. Inside he executed an interior remodel which involved painting five rooms and totally remodeling a bathroom including tile and marble. Would not want anyone else to touch my house"

"Russ was absolutely fantastic to work with. His craftsmanship is superb. And his professionalism stood out from day 1. We has several project delays due to other contractors, but Russ was always dependable and flexible. He even took time to talk directly with the flooring crew to make sure everything aligned perfectly with his work. As a woodworker myself, I know what ton look for when it comes to precision and detail. Russ's corners were tight, his finishing flawless, and his overall workmanship truly artistic. His eye for design and sense of style helped guide us towards what would actually work for our space, and the results exceeded all expectations. We now have our dream stair case! If you want someone who takes pride in their work, communicates well with other trades, and treats every project like a piece of art, Russ is the guy you want. I can't recommend him enough"

"Matt and his team are consummate professionals with great eyes for detail and precision. With no drawings or pictures from me, Matt understood what I was asking for, drew up a plan, executed the plan and it turned out exactly as I had envisioned. I think it's rare to find an independent businessman with vision, excellent listening skills and high professional standards. Matt and his workers have all of those. I highly recommend his company for any cabinet work."

Small jobs welcome

"It was fantastic! They came a month prior and gave an estimate, were right on target and didn't charge for anything else. They showed up on time and got right to work. They were just the nicest bunch of people. They did such a nice job, the front of the house looks so natural now. I can't say enough good things about them and we will definitely be calling them again for anything we need."

"Nathan Long did a fantastic job applying crown molding in my bathroom. It really added the finishing touch to my newly remolded powder room. A few things that I appreciated from Mr. Long was his professionalism an understanding to my needs as a homeowner. He called and texted before he arrived with an ETA. He ran into a bit of traffic so he texted stating he would be 10 minutes late. When he arrived he was very friendly and he introduced me to his associate. Mr. Long was sympathetic to my previous experience with a finisher who totally botched up the job because he simply was not qualified to perform the task. Me. Long was honest with his skills and he showed me pictures of his work from other jobs. My Mouldi g turned out beautiful. It was installed in less than an hour. Small job, but the other guy monkeyed around for over four hours and nothing was done. I canâ t say enough about Long Mouldi g and trim. He is fantastic all around."

Woodworking questions, answered by experts

Yes, Corian® and other solid surface countertops can be cut with standard woodworking tools like a circular saw or a jigsaw, but using the correct blade is crucial for the best results.

The recommended blade is a tungsten carbide-tipped blade, often called a solid-surface planer or triple chip grind blade. This type of blade is hard enough to cut through the material effectively. For a jigsaw, a fine-tooth down-cutting blade should be used.

It is important to note that a diamond blade is not necessary. Diamond blades are designed for harder materials like natural stone, concrete, or brick, and Corian is not a natural stone.

Using blades designed for wood is not recommended as they can cause microfractures that weaken the countertop's edges. While a tungsten carbide blade provides a much cleaner cut, the resulting edge will still be rough and must be sanded and smoothed to prevent microfractures from developing over time.

Homeowners insurance may cover damaged floor joists, depending on your policy. Insurance typically covers issues from storms, fires, or water damage from burst pipes. However, don't expect your insurance company to cover damage from wear and tear, poor maintenance, or termites.

Whether or not it’s easier to cut wood when it’s wet versus dry depends largely on the type of tool you use and the wood you’re cutting. For example, a chain saw should still be able to cut through wet wood with relative ease, but it may be more difficult to maneuver due to the wood fibers sticking to the chains of the saw.

However, you might want to avoid cutting wood entirely when it’s wet if you’re pruning your tree. Sawing a wet tree that you don’t plan on removing can also encourage bacterial and fungal growth and decay.

If you don’t have a coping saw, you can use an angle grinder to cope crown molding, but it takes a little more precision. Place your molding down on your workbench, angle the grinder at a 45-degree angle toward the molding, and back cut the wood. You’ll need to carefully angle your grinder to accommodate the curves in the wood, and aim to remove around 1 inch from the profile of the molding.

Yes, you can find ceiling joists using simple tools if a stud finder isn't available.

Using a hammer requires patience and a keen ear. Gently tap the ceiling in a grid pattern, listening for sound changes. A hollow sound indicates space between joists, while a solid, dull thud suggests a joist. Mark the location with a pencil and confirm by tapping from different angles.

Alternatively, you can use a nail, but this method will leave small holes. You'll feel increased resistance when the nail hits a joist. Mark the spot and repeat the process every 16 or 24 inches to map the joist locations. This method is considered less reliable than using a stud finder.
